I wouldn’t take him out for those first three days or put a nappy on him. Putting a diaper back on just confuses them. When the potty training starts, the diapers need to be gone. I stayed at our house for 3 days and watched my daughter like a hawk to catch her mid accident so I could run her to the bathroom. By day 2 she stopped having accidents, but we threw away all the diapers so she had no choice but to move forward and adapt

Now we have a portable car potty and a fold up toilet seat I take with me when we go to the stores and out and about.

We've been working on potty training for a while.. Definitely a slow process for us. This weekend when we had to head out, we put a pull up over his training underwear so he would still feel wet if he peed but the pull up saved a lot of the mess

@Cait he has nursery tomorrow which i wont be putting it on for but we had to go out today so I had to put it back on I did explain to him that he's only wearing out until he gets used to then he won't be wearing again From tomorrow he won't be wearing How do you cope when going to someone's house or out ? Because those are my biggest fears Obviously we are just using potty for now as toliet will be just to much for him yet Did you put on at night?

I potty trained over the weekend and kept him naked on the bottom half or just in underwear as much as possible so that he could feel the accident without it getting absorbed by a diaper. Most kids don’t like the feeling of being wet and will begin to understand what it feels like to have the urge to go and start running to the potty before it happens. Unfortunately this does mean A LOT of messes for the first couple days but I would say we had very few accidents after day 3. I also tried to pay attention to when/how often my son had to go. If you notice it’s about 2 hours between urination, I may take him around the hour and a half mark or so. Some people say try every half hour but I think that leads to frustration. Even after an accident, we would have him sit on the potty so he could make the association. Times he made it to the potty we celebrated big, usually with singing and dancing. Times he had an accident we didn’t make a big deal and just said we’ll try again next time!

@Cassie thank you Yeh that's exactly what we're doing tbh and im telling him he's a big boy now doesn't need nappies I'm proud of him he's gone like twice himself with just a little reminder but when he's concentrating or doing something else I think he just get forgets

We also didn’t do diapers out. We used the potty right before leaving the house and then I knew I had about 2 hours before approaching an accident so would try to use a potty out more frequently, about once an hour. We usually brought 2 spare changes of clothes and wipes just in case as well as plastic bags to put soiled clothes in. Wishing you luck and patience! You’re doing great and he’ll get there :)

Totally!! That will definitely happen but he’ll get better and better at recognizing it and in another day or two instead of a full blown accident when he’s concentrating on something it might just be a few drops!

@Cassie omg the no diapers out seems scary 🤣 i have a baby to so super nervous about that haha Thank you so much I think i need it 🙄 I'm praying he just gets the hang of it I've been talking to him about the potty for a long time and Bascially made it fun for him like telling him make sure you shout for us to wipe you ect and being overly happy when he's done a wee in it but the going out bit seems the scariest bit, he also is a big weeier so I'm asking him literally every 5mins lol xx

When we go out, I bring a fold up toilet seat that suctions to public pottys! Find on Amazon! I also have a cat potty haha just in case. We put a dog training pad in the car seat just in case too but always go potty before leaving and try when we get somewhere. We don’t do pull ups or diapers at night and she had accidents for the first week (we have like three pee pads under her mattress sheets). We make sure she doesn’t drink any water two hours before bed and that she goes before going to sleep. I was nervous about going out too, but when you arm yourself with resources, you will feel so much more confident. I also have a one year old and just baby wear her when we go somewhere so I still have both hands to help my toddler. Hope this helps! Just on my way out i will definitely read this in a few hours don't want you to think I'm ignore you x

LOL I totally get that! The good news is if he’s a big weeier he’s probably already used to holding his bladder for prolonged periods of time!! That’s great news and it makes your life easier. I’d say do what’s in your comfort level and right for you, only you know what that is. If you’re anxious about losing track of time, set a timer on your phone while he’s going potty for the next time you need to head to the bathroom so you don’t even have to think about it in between. All kids have accidents so if it happens in public it’ll be okay! Every accident he has is an opportunity to learn about his body and means he’s one step closer to being potty trained! However you feel about the situation is how he’ll feel about it. You’ve got this! 💪🏻

@Cait thank you so much I will have a look at them we are superwomen even with 2 kids haha How long did it take your toddler to be fully trained? I'm shocked you don't pht before bed either tbh because alot of people even health visitors says nappies on a night come later on

@Cassie thank you so much I really appreciate the boost hahaha I definitely need it 🙈❤️ I've been putting it of but I need to do it now and my aims before he turns 3 i want him to be fully trained xxx

We did treats and honestly are still doing them but most days she forgets. Once they are all gone, she has officially graduated from potty training! I just didn’t give myself a way out (no diapers!) so we just had to figure it out. Not every child is like mine, but I do fully support taking away the nappy. They are so young, they don’t understand having it sometimes but not all the time. A LOT of kids developmentally are not able to hold it overnight so if that doesn’t work for you don’t do it. I have it two weeks to give her an opportunity to try but I wasn’t going to let her feel ashamed and keep peeing on herself if she didn’t do what she did 🤍

You got this Mama! And honestly the potty seat has a little bag so no mess! The suction cup one I just scrub with a sponge and rinse and it’s good to go. I only clean it one a week lol 😂
