Postpartum Check

Just looking for others experiences. I attended my postpartum check last week ( 8 weeks) post c section. The appointment was supposed to be a double appointment, part for me and part for my little boy's 8 week injections. I came out feeling like my check was absolutely a waste of time and pointless, they didn't check on me physically, didn't check on my mental wellbeing and the only question I was asked is had I thought about contraception. I'm just wondering is this normal or should other checks have taken place. I have been told I need doctor clearance before returning to gym classes but given how rubbish this appointment was do I just return to the gym and look to know my own limits. Other mam's at group I go to were all talking this morning they have returned to the gym, even at baby being 4 weeks.

I had the same experience. They did briefly ask me if I was doing okay mentally and about contraception, and when my bleeding stopped but that was all. I think they just expect you to go back to things yourself. I was told I should get the doctors sign off before driving but I didn't need to/couldn't wait for 8 weeks!

My check was exactly the same, such a waste of time. I've just started exercising and building up slowly. You can pay for mummy MOTs/postnatal physio assessments if you have any particular concerns. There's also info online on how to check for diastasis recti yourself. I think main thing with exercise is just being mindful of core/pelvic floor and not jumping back into high intensity exercise too quickly

I have to wait until 10 weeks pp to finally get my appointment, so in the meantime I've had a mummy MOT as Hannah mentioned which was fab, and I've been doing the exercises the physio recommended for posture and core strength (post c section also). I reckon that no one knows you and your limits better than you do, so go with your instincts!
