Bottle sterilization

Until you stop using formular. I sterilised until age 1 with my first baby as that's when I stopped using bottles and formular and il do the same with my second

I stopped sterilising at 8 months but I think it's recommended until 12 months

I stopped at 1 years old because that’s what was recommended by my doctor

Until baby is no longer on formula. It’s used to kill bacteria from the formula on the off chance there’s residue left after washing. This bacteria can be pretty harmful x

honestly, ive never specifically sterilized them. i just wash them in the dishwasher. which is deemed safe by the cdc after the first 3 months with a healthy baby.

I sterilised until my little one turned 1

People are saying until you’ve finished formula but it’s not really correct, the boiling water you add to formula kills the bacteria in it… it is recommended until age of 1 but my baby is forever eating the carpet and other things I’m thinking what’s the point 😂

Everything I've seen says until you stop formula. Different countries have different recommendations though

Formula (or breast milk) is a great food source for baby AND bacteria! You should continue to sterilise bottles because any bacteria on them (may come from tap water, transfer from fingers, air etc) can thrive in the warm nutrient rich environment of a bottle. For example ecoli has a generation time of 20 minutes under the right conditions. I don’t sterilise toys anymore or plates, but they’re not nutrient rich or kept at body temperature (the ideal temperature for pathogens)… I’m not sure what the exact guidelines are but as a microbiologist I will continue to sterilise my bottles to be on the safe side
