My boy had chronic constipation a few months back and was put on the constipation medication. The doctor didn’t give any advice though about how to wean off it - so just flagging so you can have that convo if you need! Water didn’t help us, nor did prunes or any of the other advice. In the end we found that his appetite had just increased loads before his body was used to coping with all the food. Since turning 1 he eats less (still barely drinks water) but has regulated his bowels better.
My little boy struggles with chronic constipation and we tried the prunes, water etc. We then used lactulose which worked for a short period. The best thing we have used is movicol. It's dissolved in water and can be taken throughout the day. From my experience if you're not happy with what the doctor has suggested be firm and tell them what you want
We’ve had constipation issues since she moved onto cows milk. Lactulose has worked well as it moves water into the bowel to help move things along and I didn’t want her body to become dependent on things like movicol. My eldest had loads of stomach issues from the side effects from movicol too.
Thank you for all of these comments ❤️ I’ve bought a vitamin powder from Holland and Barrett which was also recommended to me and it seems to be helping move things along.
@Emma yes this is exactly what’s happening, ever since we’ve moved to cows milk she’s been suffering it’s so frustrating because she was really getting into her food but the last few weeks it like she’s too full to eat because it’s not going anywhere 😩
Lactulose from the pharmacy can help! It’s a stool softener, we’ve been using it for our daughter. We’re also exploring a possible cows milk intolerance with ours. Since switching to alternative milks, bowel movements have been so much better!
A little bit of orange juice or a Warm bath and tummy rubs. Hope it gets better for her soon x
