Mums who have done long haul flights

Travelling for 24h (2 flights and a few hours of stop over) with an almost 2yo. Can you tell me what you brought (or didn't brought but you wish you had) that you think are essential. Thank you!

My son was 21 months when we travelled overseas with him. We took a few books, some crayons and a colouring book, a couple of small hot wheels cars, iPad with pre downloaded educational games, downloads of a couple of his favourite kids shows and movies like Thomas the Tank and Moana and his favourite comfort toy. Obviously a few changes of clothes, nappies, wipes, bottles/sippy cups, blanket, Panadol, snacks and so forth. Wasn't really anything I wish I'd taken, I felt we had enough to keep him entertained. At the airport before the flight and during the layover we just let him run a lot to burn his energy.

@Alex thank you! Did you find a blanket would have been good?

Great suggestions above. We also took some little gifts eg. A few small toys and books in wrapping paper to open at different times during the trip. My girl loved that. Another one is a snack box with lots of little compartments.

We just used the airplane blanket for the flight but took one of his with us in our luggage.

I did all of the above too and it went pretty smoothly !! Only thing not listed that we took were some stickers, which is fun to put all over the seats and easy to take off again. If its an international flight the airline should supply a blanket and a pillow if not these will be good to bring just for a bit of added comfort.

@Casey the gifts is such a cool idea thank you!

Second the stickers! We brought little bundles of stickers that he peeled off and stuck all over himself. Kept him a lot busier than some of the other things we packed. I think we had farm animals and marine animals and they went down so well
