How old is too old for toys?

So my child ran up to me and told me that his friend (who is also 9) was made fun of for playing with “baby toys” at the daycare center. Three girls walked up to him and yelled in his face super loud “why are you playing with baby toys?!” And “he is playing with baby toys”. He was playing with cars so I’m not sure if there’s a certain age that people think you need to cut toys out 😂. I never thought there was and I still refuse to believe there is an age to cut off toys. Playing is learning. You learn when you play. They place rollerblades, bikes, video games and all that but I don’t see it as a problem to like cars. What would you do if this happened to your child or someone close to you?

I never cut toys from my kids my oldest who happens to be my son is 9 just really isn’t a toy kid never has been but will play with them with his two year old sister. I feel kids grow up so fast and technology is partly to blame

I would have him stand up for himself if it’s something he wants to do then they need to be told something. My six year old daughter has one girl in dance class every week commenting on her outfits, telling her she can’t wear what she’s wearing or only she can wear what my daughter has on because she’s older than her probably 8. So I told my daughter to stand up for herself and tell her what she wears is none of her business and to kindly leave her alone. She didn’t so then she told her again and then informed the teacher.

What is the saying, the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys? Those girls need to be corrected for their behavior. Kids are forced to grow up far too fast now as it is. If a kid wants to play with "baby toys" who cares, it isn't hurting anyone.

I have a 9yr old also, he’s fine with playing with cars let those lil girls know children play with toys. Wonder how that woulda went if he was feeding a baby all gone baby. My son thinks it’s so funny it pees and poops. lol Sorry he was put down for being a kid. Boys of all ages like cars

My son turned 10 in February has limited screen time & has toys still I feel like if he had open screen time he would play with them much

Well, how rude. The girls should have been corrected. Girls grow up faster and in many cases are meaner quicker. I think they grow out of it on their own. Nothing wrong with cars at 9. Using an imaging or maybe he doesn't have as many toys at home. Who knows. My oldest is 9. He still plays with some toys like their laser guns. But he has a 5yr old brother and 1yr old sister. He has some stuffed animals he likes such as his creeper(minecraft). I remember putting my barbies away myself before 5th grade. I see 4th graders with stuffed animals on pj day at the school. My older 2 learn(and still are) how to stand up for themselves and how to ignore it. They judge it.
