How have you been identified with gestational diabetes at 16 weeks?

I don’t, but I have my GTT at 16+3 on Tuesday, so following this.

@. Rawan . If you have family history or gtt in previous delivery, they do a gtt test between 14 to 18 weeks.. as well... Mine was just on the border so hoping I can control via diet but just a bit nervous as I am a FTM and hence looking to gain insights

@Ana I did with my first 😢 hopefully dont have it this time

I Did mine Last 2weeks because I Had Possitve years ago so was booked at 16weeks 3days But unfortunately I threw up so was told to come back the following week And Thanks Heavens came out negative so have been booked again at 28week

I had it with my first, however not got mine booked until 24 weeks. I controlled my first with diet alone up until the very last few weeks where I had to take metformin to control my fasting blood sugars. It takes a while to get used to what you can and can’t tolerate. All I would say is make sure you’re honest with you’re consultant and say if you ate something that made your readings higher than they should be, so they don’t think you’re eating salad and getting a spike and end up on insulin xx

Thanks charlotte

@charlotte - did they monitor spikes and how did they decide when to start the medication?

@Ana yes, I don’t know if the systems will be the same but mine was all tracked through an app and they could log in and see it any time but I had an appointment every 3 weeks after a growth scan. They expect a few ups and downs because you’ve never done it before so you don’t know what you can and can’t have. Like I wouldn’t have expected bananas to spike my bloods but they did. And it also changes so much the further along you get. I was put on the medication solely for my fasting sugars, so in a morning before I ate anything they were sometimes high, which there’s nothing I can do diet wise to change but that was all. Feel free to message me if you want any more info xx

I have it and can thankfully tolerate pretty much everything hopefully it stays this way 🤞🤞
