Private medical policy - for mother and child - advice

I’m an only parent and my daughter already has one health issues her (never will be in her life and has been in her life) father genetically passed down to her. Even when I asked him about any hereditary health conditions when pregnant to only admit when she was born knowing I’d find out at the heel prick test he finally disclosed). Which I realise will be classed as a pre existing condition. But with the way the NHS is going and wanting to make sure my daughter gets the best healthcare options in the future with no more ‘pre existing conditions’ that would affect things. And me being her only family. We have little in the way of extended family. I can’t afford personally to get unwell for her and not get treatment quickly if something ever happens with my health also. So am looking at a mother and child joint private medical policy. Spoke to a broker I think they call themselves and he suggested AXA (it’s late, I’ll need to double check this). But does anyone recommend a good private medical policy provider they have taken out or used themself? As I need to get this sorted asap really. Many thanks 🙏

I think they may be connected to AXA, and I don’t know if they would cover the condition you’re referring to, but I believe Healix cover existing health conditions x

@Becky thanks for this. I’ll look into them tomorrow, many thanks x

Myself, the children and husband are on AXA through my husbands work. I’ve been pretty impressed with them so far. They have an app and it’s easy to use and they’re so responsive. I’ve spoken to them a few times on the phone about sensitive medical issues and they’ve been good to talk to and I like their follow up communication for example, they email you the summary of your call and what the next actions are in terms of claiming or getting the appropriate care etc.

We’re with Benenden Health and they’ve been great. Cover a variety of ‘pre-existing’ conditions.

We are all covered under my policy through Aviva with work and they have always been amazing when we have needed to use it x

We use AXA and it’s been great. I don’t know about a genetic condition and whether they would cover it. You would need to call them direct. My son was born hearing impaired and they did cover his surgery at age 2.
