Caesarian Question in regards to poops (sorry tmi)

I just want to ask if other mums have had this. I understand if it's too tmi, but I've never had baby before now, and sadly had to be emergency caesarian section with a knick to my bladder which needed repairing. Bub and I have been home a couple of days now (born very early Monday morning) and I've been drinking stool softener and I was just wondering if other mums have had the same poops as what baby's first poops look like? I had it for a short few hours a week before delivery, but it went away. I'm just wondering if this time is due to the surgery mixed with meds and such. Any and all information is appreciated, I'm not trusting what Dr Google says 🤣

A lot of the meds for any abdominal surgery can give you really firm stool. I was on stool softeners for over a month post c-section to stay regular.

Are you taking iron? That also makes your poo black and causes constipation.

To add, i'm not constipated. I poop like this black tar like stuff every time I break wind.

@Kathryn i am taking iron, yes, but these aren't like actual poops it's like the tar poops babies poop at first.

I think it’s the iron. I’ve had the same, the constipation didn’t come on right away (maybe a couple weeks after I started taking it) and when it did it wasn’t that bad but the black tar like poo I had from taking the iron.

@Kathryn okay because I'm drinking stool softener also could that be why it's like diarrhoea?

Okay to update, I've spoken to Maternity as I needed to organise something with them anyway. They said its due to taking stool softener too often and iron tablets.

That makes sense. I’m sure it’s ok and will settle once you can come off those prescriptions. Pregnancy and pp poo is always super weird 😂🙈
