Preferred method of birth control ? I want more kids later, but other than “natural family planning” and condoms….

I’m not sure which method to go with after I deliver my baby this summer, as I’ve researched all of these options . Your opinion, which is best?

One question they ask is if you get migraines & that determines the BC you get prescribed, so my OB would only prescribe the mini pill. I didn’t get on it after my first because I knew I wanted a second very soon after. However, I’m 3 years PP with no BC for 2.5 years & we are just lucky I guess lol. We also don’t have sex a lot, especially not while I’m ovulating. Hubby plans to get a vasectomy in 7 months if we don’t get pregnant with a 3rd before then. I’m religious, so I’m leaving it up to God.

Do not get the injection if you want kids relatively soon. It takes up to 2 years to get out your system and can take even longer to concieve. I know loads of people who have struggled to concieve after having it. The pill is the easiest to come off of and concieve quickly after stopping compared to the others really. It really depends when you want another if you're looking for say a 3 to 4 year gap then an IUD or implant would be fine. If you want a smaller gap the pill

If my first option wasn’t NFP which is what I’ve been doing for 6yrs w success, I’d probably do patch or IUD or female condom which is like a disc. I’ve never been on hormonal BC. Everything else seems to have side effects that I wanna avoid, mainly weight gain, i don’t want external factors affecting my weight and health journey.

If I couldn’t use NFP (specifically the Mira app) then maybe the copper IUD again. It was good for a couple of year before I developed a copper allergy 🫠

Love my IUD (mirena), had no period for 5 years before we started trying. I got pregnant two months after getting it removed. Insertion and removal was relatively quick and painless for me. I personally think it helped balance my hormones PP too.

If you have a consistent man and you don't want any more kids vasectomy is the way to go

Condoms

Condoms are my go to. I also knew I didn’t want to use anything hormonal while breastfeeding.
