Tommee Tippee Steam Steriliser Help?

I have been using the tommee tippee steam steriliser for 3 weeks now and have been using as per instructions with 80ml of water but the heating pad seems to be faulty and leaving this burnt crust after use? Anyone else had this issue? I’m tempted to just buy the Milton cold water steriliser for ease instead of these electric ones as they seem riskier. Any advice or had something similar happen? And any views on the Milton? Thanks!

I’ve never used an electric steriliser but I love my Milton. Super easy to use, I just went with that from the get go as that’s what they used in the nicu when we were there. Literally just rinse bottles out with water and pop them in for 15 mins to an hour and you’re good to go.

@Morgan Hi! Thank you - when my baby was in the NICU they also used it which has made me consider it more! It’s so cheap and easy too with no risk really! Xx

LOVED the Milton last time, always had a bottle ready, easy to refresh once a day, no rinsing after sterilising required. 100% go for it

@Madeleine thank you xx

We had this steriliser too! On the third use the same thing happened to us. We had to throw away all our bottles because they were contaminated with the burnt smell 😭 we have the MAM bottles so we just hand wash and sterilise them in the microwave

These sterilisers are more of an effort than anything. How often you have to descale them with vinigar is ridiculous. Honestly just go to Milton.

I usually use about 90ml as its better to go over than too less, every 3 days put some white vinegar in and let it bubble for about 2 mins then manually stop it and pour in the sink and wipe with a paper towel and its good as new 😆

We used this steraliser with our first and was forever descaling it. Went for a UV one this time amd it's great! Done in 3 mins. Milton is also good but my hands ended up sore x

@Laura On the sore hands, Nursem hand cream was the only thing that saved us! Although I think the biggest culprit was the bottle washing part itself

The above is limescale - the machine needs regular descaling like a kettle, you can get sachets on Amazon x

I have this steriliser and literally had the same thing happen, I was about to buy a new one and turns out it just needed descaling!🤣
