Drying after nappy change

I feel like this is a really dumb question but I don't have anyone irl I can ask and I'm too embarrassed as this point to ask the midwife 🙈 How do you dry your babies bum after a nappy change? I've been just using a wet wipe then putting the nappy straight on, but I feel like this is wrong? Do I need to be drying after each nappy change with a towel or something else? Little guys only 2 weeks old and I feel like such a fool if I've been doing it wrong the whole time, please help 🙈😂

I don't think there's a right or wrong way but I've been using a water wipe then dabbing dry with a cotton wool pad. My little boy was getting a chapped bum and I don't know if it was because of just using the water wipe and no cotton pad or if it was acidic poos but it seems to be clearing up 😊

I fan her with the nappy before I pop on give a min to dry but don’t really check is super dry, I think if you’ve got no nappy rash and baby is happy then whatever works for you is the right way! X

Air dry or pat dry with a dry cloth x

Cotton pads, I tried cotton balls but the fluff just sticks to them, a dry cloth I felt was pointless as I’d have to wash it and dry it after each change and it was just a faff. It’s a shame baby powder isn’t able to be used anymore. Don’t worry at all, no question is a silly question, can’t be an expert first time 😭the amount of questions I’ve asked chatgpt I’m lucky they don’t charge a subscription or id be broke 🤣

It shouldn’t be that wet from a wet wipe so air drying should be fine. I’ve never towelled dry after a nappy change. Sometimes used cotton pads to dry as suggested above but after newborn stage definitely just wipe, new nappy and go! My girl is 20 months and never had an issue or rash because of changing like this. Using water wipes

Such a good question! I never even thought about this and have just been cleaning and putting his new diaper straight on. I will try to air dry for a bit longer now
