Chickenpox

My toddler has chicken pox! My mum said I had them already (I must have been too little to remember) do I need to contact gp/midwife immediately or can it wait til my next midwife appointment on Tuesday to mention it? (I’m 28 weeks now)

It’s going round my little boy’s nursery at the moment and the school we live in. I asked my friend who is a GP and she said it’s nothing to worry about at all if I’ve already had it. So I wouldn’t worry! Hopefully your toddler feels better soon!

I was told by my midwife that I'd need to contact them if my son got chickenpox whilst I was pregnant. I have had it before, but it depends on how much immunity you've built up apparently, they can test and give you a top-up if needs be. Best to give them a call, just to check.

Half my reception class has had it since Christmas. My midwife didn't seem concerned that it had been 30 years since I had it last and said I'd still be immune. I was quite anxious at first as we had multiple children being sent in to school unwell when public health advice is to keep them off to prevent spread.
