Gestational diabetes

Anyone else had a GD diagnosis? I had mine 2 weeks and really struggling with all the regulations over diet/ constant blood sugar checks. What are others experiences for those who have it?

I was diagnosed at the beginning of the week, I seem to fail my first morning fasting sugar every damn day but all my readings after food are fine 🫠 tried eating earlier/less at dinner but it doesn’t seem to change my morning result! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was diagnosed this week. My readings have been fine other than yesterday after breakfast when I treated myself to some toast with my homemade wholemeal bread. Apparently my body doesn’t like that 😂 The added mental load of it all is def tough.

Sometimes it’s not about the food you eat , a lot of the time while pregnant it can be hormone related I’m on high doses of insulin 4 times a day and then sometimes I have to take corrections and then I’m on 2000mg of metformin a day my body don’t respond well to the medication so sugars are still high even with diet n carb counting x

I was diagnosed in this pregnancy (number 2) at 12 weeks and been insulin treated since I was 13 weeks. It’s a minefield but once you get to know what your body can tolerate it’s a lot easier to manage x

Can I ask what symptoms were? I feel really sick after I eat carbs or sugar. I’ve contacted my midwife and I’m waiting to hear back but I’m so worried about having it if it’s undiagnosed x

@Cathy I didn’t have symptoms as was tested routinely at 28 weeks. Being thirsty, peeing a lot, tiredness and blurry eyesight are common symptoms though.

@Cathy zero symptoms I was really surprised 😅

How interesting, must have been a shock to get that result then! I hope you’re both managing okay 💕

@Cathy was a bit! I am moving on to the tablets this week to help me, my first reading in the morning before food is always high but all my after meal readings have been fine thankfully 🙂 it’s an adjustment for sure
