How many scans?

How many NHS scans have people been offered? This is my second baby and with my first I had 3 scans (12W, 20W and 34/36W) but this time round have only been offered 2 (12W & 20W) is this the same for everyone else ?

First baby and only offered two, 12W & 20W

Its normally 2 scans unless you need a growth scans. I had 2 scans with my first, 3 scans with my 2nd And with this one ive had my 12 week, 20 week and when i went in with some issues the doctor gave me a quick scan to check things. I'll also be having a growth scan this week at 29weeks x

12 weeks and 20 weeks is the norm for the NHS for a straightforward pregnancy. The last scan would probably have been a growth scan which is only offered if there is some sort of concern x

I was originally only offered 2, until the doctor put in for me to have a 3rd the growth scan at 28 weeks xx

I had 12weeks, 20weeks, 36weeks and 39weeks because I am Coeliac so they needed to check baby was growing ok

I was originally offered 2, 12 week and 20 week however because I had a series of reduced movements and went into triage for this I got a growth scan at 26ish weeks. The norm is 2 scans now!

First baby and I’ve only had the two at 12 weeks and 20 weeks - I will be having a third later today but that is only because my baby is very big! I think they only offer further scans if they’re worried about something

It's usually two unless the hospital you happen to be at does a 36 week scan (some do, some don't) or you need growth scans.

Yes, that’s normal for NHS now… you can always book a private scan if you want one (I’ve had a few) x

My 1st I had scans at 12w 20w and then every 2 weeks from 32w due to GD. My second I had one at 12w 20w and 28w due to cord concerns. Usually if everything is find it's a 12w and a 20w x

You only have two unless your pregnancy is classed as higher risk x

I think ive had over 10 in total but my pregnancy is high risk ive now been told ive got to have the 2x a week until i give birth. I honestly wish i didnt need so many, the stress of going to every scan wondering if theyre going to take baby out far outweighs getting to see a black and white picture imo x

I had two scans offered by the NHS during my first pregnancy. I requested a third one around 36 weeks when my bump was measured above the 97th centile, but my midwife didn’t bother referring me for one. My baby turned out to be quite large, weighing 9lb 10oz at birth. Given my history, they’ve offered me a third scan this time at 36 weeks to check if I’m having another big baby.

All pregnancies are different i only had 2 with both of mine 12 & 20 & this pregnancy I've had one at 3 weeks & 4 weeks & 6 weeks & 12 weeks & 20 weeks & got 32 week & 35 week growth scans booked in. Aswell as consultant appointments and more regular midwife appointments this pregnancy. All pregnancies are different and depends on your situation. I have high risk pregnancy this time, possible pre clampsia, both my babies were born small & both very quick labours. They want to keep an eye on baby boys size and possible pre clampsia this time round. X

I'm high risk with my second.. I had one at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 20 weeks (plus another at 22 weeks because baby wasn't cooperating).. I'll also have 32 and 36 week scans as well as my c-section is already booked in

Think it depends on county, in Oxfordshire everyone gets 3

I’m high risk I’ve had 7w 12w 20w 22w 24w and got 28w 32w and 35w x

6th baby and had my children all over the UK as a military family and only ever been offered 2 as routine at 12 and 20 weeks. I have had more in all of my pregnancies due to other complications though.

I have 4 at the moment for this pregnancy, 12, 20, 32 and 36 as I have growth scans, our hospital recently stopped doing 28 week growth scans * I also had one at 21 weeks but that was with the fetal medicine team*

Two scans only 3 + if there’s an issue xx

12,20, 36 x

Second baby but high risk so get More, due to my last pregnancy getting preeclampsia x

I’m 12, 20 and have had my letter through for 3 more scans due to high BMI and family history

I’m 25 weeks, had one at 7 weeks, 12 and 20 and then every 4 weeks but that’s only because I had a still birth son otherwise it’s just 12 and 20 unless any growth concerns x

High risk due to a previous stillbirth and preeclampsia. I've had 12, 20 and 22 weeks and have 28,32,36 and 40 booked in.

Depends on where you live, but the standard is 2, altho 3 is common. More is only if there’s other concerns, as others have said.
