I have 2 for my 2 oldest (5 and 7). They can read/ listen to books and do educational games on the weekends during our break/rest time. I hand them out and I put them away when it’s time. I’ve never timed them but it’s probably 30min to an hour that they’re on them 2 days a week. During the summer when they’re obviously not in school and it’s a rainy day I’ll pull the tablets out but they’re not an every day use item. They know my rules is if they whine they’re mine. They never leave the house and are to be used either at the table or the couch depending on where I’m cleaning that day. It’s worked well for us!
@Angela has it helped for car rides?
@Mackenzie when did you start with them?
@Emilie I started at preschool age so 5 with my son and 4 with my daughter
We own a tablet for my 5 and 2 year old but they are placed up high in my activity cabinet. I only take them out if we are going on a trip or another deemed appropriate moment. They don’t even use them once a month. I also download coloring activities, games or movies they enjoy. So it’s very much so controlled and not free access
We use the tablet for rides in the car only.
My son’s tablet lives in the car and is for long car rides! But he only gets it when he’s being calm and on good behavior. It doesn’t get turned on during tantrums.
Long car rides or plane only
