TTC

Been trying since October 2023 😞 I’ve had 2 MMC, both at 11 weeks. Last one was August 2024. I’m actually getting very tired of TTC. It’s so emotionally exhausting. At what point do we give up? 😢 Period due this week and negative test this morning

That is a lot to go through, I’m so sorry 😢 it’s a hard thing to know. Have you seen a doctor for testing, gotten your husband a sperm test etc? If not that might be the next step, or if you have but conventional medical care isn’t solving anything I’ve heard good things about traditional Chinese medicine for Ttc. the other thing might be just taking a break for a while to consider your options, or just not think about it at all. For myself I think I’ll give it 6 months and then see my doctor to start problem solving. I don’t see myself going down the IVF road but I would consider fostering to adopt if we can’t get pregnant by the time I’m 38 (about a year and a half from now) I also think there are a lot of advantages to just having 1 and I can’t say I haven’t thought about how nice that might be. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to give up on the idea of a second without feeling bitter though so I’d probably have to get some therapy about it at that point 🤷🏻‍♀️it’s just so hard to know

@Jessica thank you for your reply! I’m in the UK so going to a doctor isn’t actually an easy process. You need to have a full year of trying before you even get put on the waiting list to be seen and that’s another year long process. I couldn’t see myself doing IVF either. I do have 1 son that’s almost 4 and I guess I will definitely need some therapy too if we don’t get a second child

Ah I’m in Canada so everything depends on whether your doctor feels like taking you seriously and you can’t just go see a different doctor lol so I feel you. The general advice though is that you have to try for a year unless you’re over 35 in which case you should start the process after 6 months (I’m over 35 and the clock is ticking) it sounds like you’ve been trying for well over a year so I’d say get on that list (you can always cancel if you change your mind or get pregnant on your own by then) id also ask your doctor what they can do in the meantime. Can they order your husband a semen analysis? Prescribe progesterone? Obviously it depends a lot on your personal cycle and what you think might be going wrong. Genetic testing might make sense if your cycle is regular and you know you’re ovulating normally. Having a better idea of your situation might at least make it easier to make a decision about whether to keep trying or not

don't give up!!!!!!
