3.5 mm NT Scan at 44 years old

Hi. I'm 13 weeks plus pregnant. This was a suprise pregnancy. I have two other healthy children, one born when i was 30, the other at 42. I just had an NT scan. The baby was active and appeared normal. When the doctor came to discuss, she informed me of the fluid behind the neck measuring 3.5mm. She informed me of the risk of DS, turner, and heart defects and recommended genetic testing. She made it seem because if my age, one of these conditions, is likely. I've read some other posts from others who've been down this road but none at or around my age. I'm now terrified that something is wrong. I got the genetic testing and should have the results back by next Friday. Has anyone 40 plus gone through this? Thanks.

Hi. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I know how overwhelming and scary it is. I went through similar. I’m 42 and nt was 3.5. I had a nipt in the end which showed low risk. The twenty week scan was detailed and a cardiologist checked the heart even with these reassuring results the fear lingers. I’m 29 weeks now fyi. What test did you end up having? Really hope all goes well for you x

Thank you so much. I'm so glad to hear your baby is doing well! I was in a daze at the office, so i know she ordered the Unity Complete test NIPT. I don't think she ordered anything else. She mentioned a bunch of other tests (and studies), but i checked out by then.
