Baby moon

Has anyone else booked a trip away before their baby arrives? My husband and I are looking at a week away in June. I’m nervous about Europe with Zika virus, looked at a cruise around the Norwegian fjords but they won’t let you on if you’re over 24 weeks. Thinking we may need to stay in the UK but keen to hear if anyone else has similar concerns about zika in Europe or has booked a nice UK break. UK feels a bit boring if we can’t do a lot of nice spa / hot tub bits but I think I would like a break from work before the baby arrives!

I’m off to south of France 🇫🇷 & the lakes in Italy 🇮🇹 I’m not worried about Zika in France or Italy ☺️

We went to feuturventura when I was 28weeks pregnant. We loved it! Perfect for us. Cruises unfortunately have different limits to flying.

I don’t think I would have had the energy to travel abroad while pregnant 🙈 I wish we’d have been able to book a nice chilled weekend away though, yummy food, fire pit that sort of thing.

I've booked to go to Porto for a Monday - Thursday short break in May 🥰

We are going to menorca 🏖️ I have never worried about Zika in Europe as I don’t think there’s ever been any cases? I would avoid South America and Asia etc though.

@Jane from what I can see online the risk mainly seems to be in France for Europe but my husband is just a bit of a worrier as I do get bitten a lot!

Bluestone in Pembrokeshire (wales) is AMAZING for a UK break, especially if you have older children too, we’ve been twice, once when my little girl was 10months, again when she was 18months and we’re going again in July when she’ll be 2 1/2! We’ll deffo be booking again next year for when our new September baby is with us! Xxx

Zika is further out like Cape Verde, I personally wouldn’t like to go away when pregnant incase I need help (my own anxiety & no judgement to anyone else) if you go into a travel agent & ask where is safe to go then they will tell you, when I booked Cape Verde through tui the agent asked if I was pregnant or trying to be for my own safety

Yes we usually go to Center Parcs

I've just booked Greece for May. I've never worried about Zika

I’ve got my honeymoon in Greece for two weeks in may so also classing it as a baby moon!

Thanks everyone, super helpful and maybe we’re being way too cautious about Zika in Europe. Got my 16 week appt next Friday so will ask the midwife then what they thinks.

I’m of to Mykonos next month and turkey in June x

@Emma if you Google Zika virus it will tell you on the gov website

We came back from Sri Lanka and found out I was pregnant and all ok so far. It has dipped off in most countries now and Europe is deemed safe. A good mozzy spray and precautions and advice from doctor is key. Hope you have a lovely trip!

I went to Morocco at 30ish weeks and was amazing!!!

We're going to Cyprus for 2 weeks on Saturday so it's a very early baby moon and for our sons 3rd birthday too. I'm currently waiting on seeing midwife now so will ask questions about Zika but I think its all fine

I'm going to Porto for 3 nights mid May! This website from the EU is really helpful when it comes to Zika outbreaks https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/zika-virus-infection/surveillance-and-disease-data/travel-associated-cases
