@Mia 🌼 it’s so hard. I wonder if it’s cow and gate that’s not very good? Oh no, I thought it was supposed to be good I’ll hold off until I see the dr. I would wait for 5 days but I can’t bear to see him so uncomfortable. I couldn’t imagine not going the toilet for 5 days and their stomachs are so small x
@Amy I think gripe water is better for trapped burps and stuff. Yeah 5 days is a long time to not go it's horrible seeing them so uncomfortable
My little one is also 4 weeks on cow & gate and gets constipated… I wonder if it is something with the formula… Longest he’s been constipated is 2 days though as I give him breast milk to try and loosen it and it tends to work… my midwife did say if he stays constipated to boil some water and give that once it’s cooled (just a tiny bit) xx
My little boy is on cow & gate and is constipated he went 4 days of no poo and was crying like he was in pain , the doctors gave us a laxative and he did a poo but again went 4 days of no poo and then went him self without giving him anything . My health visitor said the older they get the less poos they will do We go cycling legs Pressure point on the feet
Thanks everyone! He’s got an appointment at the drs tomorrow hoping he can get something to help x
My son is 5 weeks old tomorrow and he is also formula fed. He’s not been super constipated but for a few days he was very uncomfortable crying and pushing for poos. We just started him on Kendamil pro-comfort drops and I’m not sure yet but today he’s not pushed so much as he’s been extremely farty!! Of course ask your doctor tomorrow if you could try something like that maybe.
My girl went through this, also on C+G, HV wasn’t concerned as they only start to become concerned when it’s been 10 days!! Which is crazy! I think it’s just their digestive system maturing as my girl is still on c+g with no problems now. I do use Dentinox though to help with the gas as this can be added directly to the bottle, works wonders for my girl.
Also to add to this, you could try giving him a bottle of the ready made formula, this is what my midwife recommended as that contains a type of laxative so may help!
my auntie was a head midwife and basically shouted at me when i told her i was using C+G and basically forced aptamil into my hand, my son was spewing up the C+G constantly and didn’t seem right on it, he’s a lot better now on aptamil
@Jasmine did she explain the reasons for why C+G is bad for them? My son is on Aptamil but I’m just curious as to what the differences are. I’m a first time mum and did and NCT course before little one was born and they told us all the formulas are the same so I wonder why they spread this advice if it’s incorrect.
@Ewa sorry it took a while to answer back i had to get in touch with her again to find out lol i forgotten, she says it’s too thick for babies and also too sweet, imo i take what she says with a pinch of salt haha but i have read alot about babies being sick after drinking C+G and then being okay after switching over
@Ewa I’ve just ordered these did you give them 5 drops in one go or did you pace them I to each feed and did you use anything like infacol alongside them still or just the pro drops x
Mine is 3 weeks on Friday cow and gate and he's struggling with constipation too . I read that gripe water could potentially make it worse so I haven't tried. I mentioned it to the health visitor and she said it can be normal but if we get to day 5 of no poops to call the doctor
