Thank you so much, it all makes complete sense! He's quite upset about it as he loved spending that time with her but we will try with the bedtime stories and hopefully it won't be too long before she wants her daddy to help again x
We have been through a phase of this. We had daddy being mummy's assistant, handing me the prepared toothbrush, holding the towel for me etc and just talking to LO while he was in the bath. It soon sorted itself out to Daddy being the preferred bath attendant (mummy does milk and cuddles).

We’re having this so he asks her to help him as she LOVES to help and get involved in what we’re doing so he’ll ask “can you help daddy get your pjs” “can you pass me a nappy” etc and it switches off whatever is happening in her head! Xx
My LO doesn't enjoy her papa bathing her either, he does it different to me, he is more just wanting her scrubbed and clean. I am more slow and we play a little, and i let her try to wash herself which she is starting to enjoy. It could be the difference in routine and sequence? We both read together books to her before bed. She prefers him for some things and me for others, like nappy time is always a battle with me, but she doesn't fight with him.
Yep this is totally happening in our house. Dad just keeps trying but is deflated each time. We just keep encouraging her to let dad help and play where mum can step back but still be there
This is super common in toddlers at this age, as they are learning autonomy over their bodies, and they want to show that independence and control over their lives in any way they can. Really hard to listen to if you’re not the preferred parent, but she will grow out of it and it doesn’t reflect her love for her dad ☺️ In the meantime, are there other ways dad could assist in her routines, eg reading a story at bedtime to both you and your daughter? Then it’s a positive experience for all family members, and reminds your daughter how much she enjoys spending time with her dad x
