@Sarah yes I’m from the uk, thankyou, will this pregnancy be more of a high risk? And will I get any other scans other than the 12 week and 20 week? I’m just so anxious as my midwife told me last time I was pregnant that with your second baby your body tries to reject the positive baby? And that it could end with miscarriage or other problems
Being Rh Negative alone will not make your pregnancy obstetrically high risk, but remember that risk is a spectrum. You will be at a “higher risk” of certain things, but just remember it’s a health professional’s duty to inform you of absolutely everything and the risks are small. You’re unlikely to be offered additional scans for rh neg alone but obviously I can’t comment on your individual circumstances. I know it’s easy to say but try not to worry as the anti d in your first pregnancy is designed to protect any subsequent pregnancies
Congratulations! If you’re in the uk, you’ll have your blood group tested at booking - this will also check for antibodies (including any residual antibodies from the antid in your first pregnancy) You may be offered a cell free DNA test around 16w to predict the babies Rh status - if predicted rh pos then you’ll be offered anti D at 28w, cord blood will then be tested at birth to confirm baby’s blood group and whether or not you need more postnatal anti D. If your Trust doesn’t offer Cell Free DNA then you’ll just have prophylactic anti d at 28 weeks regardless 🙂 I hope this makes sense!
