At that age, not much. Plenty of milk if using formula (a few flasks of water, formula tabs, bottles), spare clothes for you and baby in case of an accident, dummy, blanket from home, travel in their pjs, calpol, baby carrier or travel buggy for the transfer airport, book the sky cot, sleep. I travel to Australia often with the kids, including when they are babies (sometimes alone too). Use the cabin crew, they will help if you need a wee or you want a cup of tea in the galley whilst you stretch. Babies pass out on planes from the white noise, embrace it xx

@Sarah amazing thank you! We are heading to New Zealand and have the longest layover time in china! Think we are going to get some lounge passes! Did you ever use the bassinets?! Wondering if I should bother trying to get one or wait till I get to the airport but don’t wanna miss out if they are really helpful!

@Millie book it asap, don’t wait till the airport. Those skycots are amazing for being able to relax a bit but they book fast. Get lounge passes for the break, resetting bottles with boiling water, showering, nappy changes. Where’s the layover? Xx

I don’t have any tips just wanted to say that you’re bloody brave!! And I hope it goes well

@Sarah I’ll get onto that! Stopping in Shanghai Iv seen a few lounges available there! Also seen somewhere they may have free shower facilities!

@Coadie wish me luck aha!

We live in California and will be travelling back to Scotland to visit family in June with our 5 month old! Following this post for tips!

Also following this! We’re off to Cape Town with our 3 month old twins in 3 weeks and couldn’t get bassinets as they were all booked 😩

@Alex I’ve done 15 hours without a bassinet and it’s not too bad. At this age they aren’t heavy, it’s just like being on the sofa with them contact napping. Recline your seat and get comfy, they sleep just as well but you can less hands to yourself. The bassinets are good but you cannot use them for takeoff, landing or any time the seatbelt sign is on. I once had a bassinet for a long haul but barely used it as the pilot won’t turn the belt sign off for 4/5 hours.
