Bath

We gave our sweet girl her first at home bath yesterday and she HATED it. Any tips to make it a more enjoyable experience for her?

Did you cover her in a blanket or with washcloths?

Yes we wrapped her in a blanket played music for her, turned the lights down and gently talked to her.

Crank up the water temp. I go for 38 degrees and I had a bath with him. Also, I do it after a feed when he’s wide awake and thankfully my bathroom is black and white tiled so he loves it because he doesn’t get bored. Maybe try something similar? Good luck 🤞

My son didn't like bath at all. So we just took him with us in the shower. We still do at 1.5 year old. Now he enjoys bath and pools so much but we do it whenever we can because our routine works well with the shower. 😊

This happened to us. We thought it'd be a nice first family moment and he screamed and screamed 😅. It slowly got better with each bath. We dunk his toes in first and put a warm cloth on his belly but our saving grace now is a bath book which he loves holding/chewing!

Most tend to hate them the first time, we found doing it a little warmer than suggested helped :)

I agree with warming it up, definitely needs to be warmer than they say. My son would scream and I asked my midwife and she said its all because it's too cold x

A wet warm towel covering her while in the tub helped. And only excluding the body part I was washing. A heating pad underneath her towel if just doing a wipe down. We also do showers while I bring In her chair so I can wash myself first and then bring her in

Definitely go warmer, we aim for 103° for ours, and he loves the bath, also get a thick towel for after to help keep him warm and calm so the process after doesn’t ruin his mood.

Warm room, warmer water, put a towel or blanket in to keep baby warm the entire time. For a while until baby gets older, after washing body, you can dry and swaddle and then wash hair separately. We even tried taking baths with our kiddo so we had me holding her the entire time.

Yeah I cranked up the water temperature and had it deeper and held her in it. She screamed the house down first bath, now she cries when I take her out of it! I use the big bath a lot of the time, and swish her back and forth in the water so she has plenty of water and room for her arms and legs to float and kick and move in the water. Loves it now!

It helped us to let her splash her toes in and touch the water coming out of the faucet before we put her in the bath. She is just now old enough to start playing with toys and that has really helped. The first couple times though we just made it a quick bath because she haaaated it. It has gotten better though and she is enjoying her baths now. There is hope ✨
