Refusing bath time

My 15 month old has always loved baths but this week she started refusing to even touch the water, she’ll curl up and cling to me. The water is not too hot or too cold. I’m the only one who has ever bathed her so I doubt it’s trauma. She was sick last week but would still bathe, this week she has an ear ache but I’m not sure what that would have to do with it. She’s playful, energetic, eating and drinking great. I’ve been settling for sponge baths since she’s not super dirty but obviously that can’t go on for long. Has anyone else experienced this? What should I do?

My 15 month did this recently too. I put a towel in the tub and wrap it around her and this helped. I think at this age because they are starting to learn to protest things that she was protesting her dissatisfaction with being chilly 😂 not sure that this is helpful but it could just be the age and the skills she is learning.

Omg yes my babygirl has been like this too for the past 2 weeks. Just out of no where refuses showers!

My son this week has started crying at the beginning of baths too and does not want to sit in the tub. I think he just wants to be up and moving. I have to let him cry for a bit and just ignore the protests and get him distracted with his fun bath toys. After a little bit he settles down and has fun in the tub.

Omg yes this has been my son too!! I thought it was just him and couldn’t figure out the reason for it. Maybe it’s developmental

This is often when irrational fears start developing, so don’t doubt yourself! Fears of things they’ve enjoyed or never noticed before become common. Just work through like exposure therapy for traumatized puppies; cuddle, lots of sympathy sounds and cooing, easing into it slowly each round, lots of choices on things they are allowed to influence. Their confidence in that area will come back quickly and it’ll go back to being a non-issue.

We recently moved and my daughter is still getting used to the new house. When I ask her if she wants a bath, she runs for the bathroom and starts pulling at her shirt but then when we get into the bathroom she will sit by the door and babble at me. I turn the water on and get it to a good temp then I climb into the tub and keep asking her to come to me until she finally does

Yea!! My daughter is so afraid she shakes and I have to hold her little hand. :( it breaks my heart. I have to give her fast baths.
