@Kimiko it’s such a long random looking list to engage with when you don’t have kids! Totally get the need for help. I completely forgot to add carrier / sling even though I used mine everyday. 🤭 Honestly, try not to stress too much, most things can be ordered or got so fast these days! As long as you’ve got a safe space for the baby to sleep, some clothes and nappies, and a car seat for them to come home in you’ll be ok. 🤣
@Francis any suggest on best brand of car seats?
@Kimiko we liked the Cybex car seats. Good safety and fitted on to our buggy (Uppababy Cruz). Pick buggy then car seat if you want ones that will fit together.
Bibs! Burp cloths! High chair! Car seat! Stroller! Board books! Diapers newborns and 1 (more sizes if you have the space)!!! Wipes!!! Clothes sized newborn to 12 months (babies grow so fast). Toys! Stuffed animals! Blankets! Sound machine! Audio or video monitor (recommend video for peace of mind) BOTTLES (if not breastfeeding)!
@Kimiko BABYTREND
A lot of retailers have checklists built into the registry app. I know target and babylist do at least. This was really helpful for me. These are absolutely designed to sell you stuff and can be limited to that retailers preferred brands so take them with a grain of salt, think about your own lifestyle and whether items actually make sense for you, and do your own research. Ex. You don't need to go out and buy ALL the bottles & pumps & cleaning equipment if you plan to exclusively nurse. Do your research on bottles that are more like the breast to protect your latch instead and get one or two to try just in case. You can always stock up later if you need to. (FYI: Many registry sites have welcome boxes that will come with bottle samples)
Also people like to shower you with things like blankets, stuffies, clothes, and books (because they are cute and more meaningful and fun to pick out than a box of diapers) Your registry is a great place to pick these things out yourself so that people can shop from a curated list of less expensive meaningful gifts and give you the satisfaction of having picked out some of their clothes and toys yourself. I figured this out way too late.
My sister with 4 kids told me don’t buy so many 0-3 months clothes because the baby grows FAST definitely buy more 3-6 months. She also told me skip the button downs always do zippers it’s so much easier and faster. Try to skip using pants so much in the beginning because babies do have alot of blowouts sometimes so onesie and zipper up sets are much easier. Definitely invest mittens and burping cloths. If you can invest into a good quality stroller. A stroller is like a mom vehicle it’s always with you and you need it running. The cheaper ones tend to get harder to push and wobbly as the baby get older. Also another major thing a lot of moms recommended me the snuggle bed. Another is swaddles when they sleep at night halo swaddle is a good brand. As for bottles a lot a lot moms told me MAM bottles & ninni co pacifier is good too
Any of the following: Muslin cloths (yes you will use a ton of them), sleep sacks, clothes of various sizes up to six months, nappy bin, changing table (important if you have a C-section), changing mat, changing mat covers, buggy, cot, teething toys, play mat or similar, nappies (small packs of the first two sizes just in case you don’t like that brand), food meal prep vouchers for postP, car seat, voucher for lactation consultant, and a pregnancy massage for you now!
