I had it on Tuesday no side effects and I agree with Donna it’s for our babies not us xx
Yes I understand this but I don’t get why it wasn’t a thing when I had my first not long ago and now it is like is it a new jab it’s not been explained
It’s been used in the USA and most of Europe for about ten years, so though it’s new to the NHS it’s not new if that makes sense? Hopefully that’s a little more reassuring - this isn’t a test or anything, it’s been used successfully in other countries for a long time but with the way NHS funding works it can take a while for things to be used here :)
Yer i didn’t have it with my baby in 2022, the uk were a bit late to the game it’s been around a few years the nhs just didn’t want to pay before 😅 I will be getting it there haven’t been any studies that show they are harmful to babies or mothers just the standard scaremongering articles that most vaccines get, definitely going to protect her against something so nasty especially with a germ spreading toddler about! 🙂
I talked to my Dr and they said the one given to pregnant women isn't as effective as the one given in the hospital or during RSV season. I was concerned because our daughters lungs aren't 100% according to u/s. We're going to wait until the infant shot becomes available in October. Our dr already has an alert set on our file to book us an appointment when it's in office. It wasn't available when my son was born October '22.
@Ellie can it be given to infants/toddlers too? When I asked the midwife here she said she wasn’t sure if it can be given to them directly even if done privately?
@Megan I’m pretty sure it isn’t given in the UK. It is given maternally as it protects baby for like 6 months after birth
@Donna Woods yer that’s what I was thinking, my thoughts were by the time babys 5/6 months rsv season will only just be starting up, just wanted to know if it would be possible to have to boost them through the winter 😬
@Megan I completely forgot to ask about toddlers. Our dr said that it would be available for babies born this year, especially during RSV season. My husband and i were focused mostly on this pregnancy just because of everything that is going on that I didn't have during my first. I have an appointment next week for tdap, I'll ask then.
I asked my midwife as I had the same question and it's because UK RSV rates are so high compared to the USA where the vaccine is given to all pregnant woman and so we are following them and giving it out now. The vaccine isn't new and has been used in the UK for years with the elderly
I didn’t have it with 2022 baby and definitely having it with this one. RSV is rife at the minute and I know someone who refused it and a couple of weeks ago when her and her family were sick their 2 week old was rushed to hospital with RSV. It has been rolled out last year to over 75s with great success and they’re finding it has worked well given in pregnancy and rates reduced in babies. It was always a vaccine available just not on the nhs originally unless someone was severely immunocompromised as rates weren’t high enough. X
I didn’t have it with my 2023 baby but I’ve had it this time , if it was available I would of had it x
I am not gonna have it. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-14346181/safety-alert-RSV-vaccine-millions-risk.html?ito=social-facebook&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2wRIOwo-t6Qu6tZuZx8k2h9rmuYjTl8pS0gqlyMfCuw-qOU6DqR23WfqE_aem_Y4Y8Fy5GFddB4oDkYNxVZA
@Elisha I wouldn’t trust a daily mail article 😂

Do you trust Pfizer? Thats who makes it.
@Elisha more so than the daily mail 😂
@Elisha if you actually read the studies done, the increased risk is 10 cases in 1million vaccine doses
@Elisha Pfizer literally make most uk vaccines so yes I do trust them.
I am aware. The company is criminal. They dont just commit one off crimes either. They are repeat offenders. Their whole business model is to make more money than they have to ever pay out in damages. From falsifying science, to defrauding regulators, lying to doctors and literally harming people. They do not care. They dont have to be held accountable by any other means but being fined. And they have plenty of money. So they literally dont know consequence. Id personally stay away from anything newer, particularly if it has the RNA genetic material. This includes the RSV. This is my own opinion.
@Elisha 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
@Elisha you do realise that Pfizer also make drugs that treat cancer right? It’s not just vaccines they make. They literally supply the Uk with the majority of drugs and medicines. They’re one of the top 5 pharmaceutical companies in the world.
I have many opinions on their cancer treatments too. I do believe this is off topic. And frankly, time consuming.
@Donna Woods it also is to do with elderly people’s reaction to it there have been zero cases in mums or babies
There’s quite a bit of misinformation in these comments. The RSV vaccine is new to market, period. It has not been used in the US and Europe for years at all. It’s currently in phase 4 of the trial ‘post marketing surveillance’ (collecting real world data). This means it’s approved for use, but there is still no long term safety data. It’s also worth noting that this vaccine does not prevent the recipient from catching or transmitting the illness. Just some points to take into consideration as this one has become somewhat controversial due to some reported adverse reactions (both during vaccine trials and now currently post marketing).
The leaflet for it is here with all of the info, I’d recommend reading it! It even mentions that the neurological disorder, that the daily mail wrote about, is only a side effect of the elderly and not pregnant people. https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.15309.pdf
The side effects are happening. If those side effects were listed in mice trials, lol, no one would question it. Biologically we are closer to the elderly people than mice. Why is it cos it’s elderly people, it’s a moot point. We are all the same species. Surely at least it’s worth some consideration.
@Elisha I was just sharing an official leaflet for the vaccine so people can have a read, rather than a daily mail article to scare people lmao
@Charlotte no problem. Please know I’m not intending to scare people. The post asked for opinions. Feel free to share yours.
I'm not having it, I was booked in for it but I've never had it before and when I have injections I ALWAYS get the side effects and am ill after so I've decided against it

@Elisha isn’t it funny how if you were to fearmonger about RSV nobody bats an eyelid, but if you share legitimate side affects of the vaccine it’s ’scaring people’
I’m having it 🤷🏻♀️
I’m going to have it anything that’ll help with me and my baby health . Vaccines aren’t out to get you they are in place to prevent illnesses. At the moment there’s a rise in measles due to the misinformation sprouted about vaccines .
I also had a baby in 2023 when the jab wasn’t offered and she ended up in A&E with RSV barely able to breathe so yes I will 10000% be having this jab. If I could have done something to help her not be as bad I would have.
Had it at 30 weeks. No side effects. Healthy baby. Everyone pregnant person who can have it, should have it. It’s not for you. It’s for your baby and their health.
