This sounds exactly like we’re going through with our 3 year old. Instead of next week, she says tomorrow. Then tomorrow comes and it goes on and on. We are hoping during Easter hols when we are off work & no nursery, we can start doing it.
I started slowly by letting her know when I was going for a wee and she would follow me in the bathroom then keeping the potty in the lounge/ bathroom a good 3 months before trying. We have a really good potty training book that we started reading to her and would start her on the potty/ small seat on the toilet at first every time she’d wee on the potty or poo on it we would give her a little chocolate bar or a sticker. She’s still not 100% there but it’s been about 2 weeks since an accident. Also if they are at nursery let them know so they can do the same thing as you while at home. Think we also tried to keep her in a dress or easy clothes while we started so it was easy for her to whip her trousers/ pants off. Hope this helps xx
No tips but my LB is the exact same! Tells me he needs a wee / poo / when he’s done it but refuses to sit on the potty / toilet! We have the seats, different potties to see if that helps but he just says no thank you mummy. I encourage and just think that one day (hopefully soon) he’ll just decide he’ll go on it! I’ve tried bribing too but nothing is working for us! xx
Have you introduced the potty at all before this stage? If not it might all feel a bit nerve wracking. Maybe keep the pressure off if this is the case and play with toys using the potty, try go nappy free indoors too so when she’s gotta go she might use the potty. In the end with my girl it was confusing her to wear nappy pants so we stopped putting her in them and she wore knickers. We had her in night time nappy pant but as she was dry we stopped that too as in the morning she didn’t want to take them off. Sometimes she will sit on toilet other times only the potty. I feel like at 3 they just want to control everything, could she put stickers on the potty maybe. Try reward system too.. 3 times using potty and you get.. (something small but exciting for her) Good luck!
