NHS employees: How were you able to use your accrued annual leave after maternity leave?

Let's say you had 20 days accrued leave and worked a 5 day week. Did you have to take it all as an extra month off? Were you able to take one day a week giving you a 4 day week for 20 weeks? Something else?

I took a couple of weeks off, then I did 3 days a week for 8 weeks… you also have bank holidays too

I had a whole year to use so added a few weeks onto my mat leave, used 1 day a week for a few weeks and then carried a week over to next year

In my previous trust Im sure I was able to take a day a week off accrued leave for a given period(although I didn't, I took a large chunk). My current manager has just told me I can't do that. Thank you for your response ladies. Off to HR I go..

I used all of my leave pre maternity as I wasn’t allowed to carry any over into the new financial year, however I do have 7 accrued bank holidays which they’ve told me I need to take in a block before I return xx

I have had to take it off at the end of my mat leave

I've chosen to take it all at the end of my maternity leave as it's the end of the financial year. Otherwise I'd lose the leave....I think I was told.

Each trust does things differently it seems

I think it also depends on how your maternity falls xx
