Milk before bed

Hi my son is 17 months old now I’ve been thinking of taking away his bed time milk for a while now as he’s not finishing it anymore so I’m guessing he doesn’t want it or need it He doesn’t have a milk in the morning anymore so it’s just in the night before bed Any tips on what I should do to help him come off it Shall I just go cold turkey that what we did with his morning milk xx

It’s normal my toddler did same thing but I still offer her milk

I switched to water in the bottle at night and just told him we can have milk in a cup in the morning. The water wasn’t as exciting so he dropped the bottle pretty quickly after that

My ex partner started reducing the amount of milk offered to his son each night slowly until he wasnt having any and that seemed to work well for him. He was 2 and still really wanted the bottle but was still able to be weaned that way so could be a good idea if cold turkey doesn't work for you

I just offer 2oz 😂

At what age is the right time to start to wean babies off milk, my daughter just turned 13 months

Just move the time up starting from just before bed to the start of bedtime routine. Then keeping it up until it's a cup at dinner time. You don't have to get rid of milk completely, it's an easy source of calcium.

I went cold Turkey with my son now he only drinks milk if I give it too him and most times he doesn’t want it, I started putting plain Greek yogurt into his milk and he loves that plus it gives him extra protein and it’s good for guy health

@Shanna-Kay there is no right or wrong time. My daughter was having a bottle of milk before bed until she was 3. My son is 17 months & 2oz is hit or miss. It whenever your child doesn’t want it anymore. There shouldn’t be any pressure around it. X

Okay thank you so much jasmine🥰

My little boy was 3 in December and still has a bottle of milk at bedtime (I do 1/2 milk and 1/2 water) It’s his comfort to go to sleep

My little girl is 18 months and has maybe a bottle every now and then. She took herself off it in all honesty she mainly drinks squash

If he isn't drinking it, I would try lowering the levels or not offer it for a few days and see how he does. As long as he is getting his nutrients during the day, he should be okay. We switched to a sippy cup with a soft nipple before my daughter turned 2. She is almost 2 and a half, and she still takes milk at naps and bed, just in a sippy cup instead. She also has a water bottle in her bed that I keep full.
