Potty training & going out

Planning on potty training my toddler soon and I was wondering how are we going about when you go out? I know the first few days we’ll be home but when you go out do you take a portable potty in the car? Public bathrooms? All advice is welcome, thank you!

Have they shown any signs of being ready? If not you'll probably find it won't really work. In terms of going out and about if they are ready then after the first few days I took a potty with me but used it in public toilets then transitioned to holding her on a public toilet.

We just potty trained a few weeks ago. We have a portable potty but when in the car he asks us to pull over and we get the potty out. Our friends also bought us this which is a smaller potty which has been useful - https://amzn.eu/d/42LU6OH

@Natalie yes I believe so. I won’t start for another few weeks but I just wanted to get an idea of what to do if we have to be out. Thank you!

My boy hated the potty and refused it so we just wee before we go and use public bathrooms. We just said no wees in the car and he has never had an accident. He’s very good at holding though

We have a carry potty Or you could just take a kids seat wrapped in a bag (and clean throughly when home)

I left a portable potty in the boot. He’s been in the boot sometimes lol after I’ve taken out the pram, he’s got some space to sit and squat, esp when we know the toilet is far away like a nature park or the zoo, I’ll get him to pee before we head off. You can also buy a bunch of disposable vomit bags/pee bags for emergencies. He has peed in the bushes many times before though lol away from any people, if he needs to go he needs to go 😂

@Kellie we’re partial to a wild wee when required 😂

We have done public bathrooms, but it might be worth packing painters tape cause my kid hates the automatic flushing ones
