How much is too much? I believe pediatricians recommended 16-24 oz a day, mainly for calcium intake.
I diluted my 1st born's milk with water (in his bottle only) more and more until he disliked the taste & associated that with his bottles only and didn't want them anymore. He was drinking way too much between home & daycare so the bottles of milk had to go! Sounds easy enough, right? Tried it with my AB (2nd) & it didn't work. She's holding onto her milky bottles for dear life... So I'm just being pretty strict to stay within her recommended oz range from the Ped in the meantime.
I’m having the same issue with my toddler, who’s turning 2 mid April. I was actually gonna make a post to ask for advice. Then I saw your post and decided to comment, to see if there is any advice on here. It’s worse at night than it is during the day. She wakes up screaming for her bottle multiple times per night. I’ve tried everything…cutting the tip, diluting it, pretending it’s lost…and nothing is helping. It’s ruining her teeth also. I have a newborn too, so it is really tough to deal with her now. I gave in because I kept having to place the baby down during feedings, so she was also irritated.
I was worried about this too! We have moved to sippy cups but she still gets a cup for going to bed at night. I'm sure the dentist would just lose their head because we brush teeth and then she gets her milk 🤣🫣 We've been trying to dilute it and mostly offer the milk with meals so she can't fill up on it before food. Then when she has the option of food and/or milk she usually eats a fair bit more and still gets her milk. Other than diluting it over several weeks until it's just water, we haven't had any ideas on nighttime wakes/bedtime milk runs. It might just turn into more of a battle down the road. You certainly aren't alone in this struggle! 💜
It can lead to iron deficiency. Had that issue with my older son. Really listen to the doctor and measure how much you give them. I taught my son he could have one glass with each meal then water after that. Water at snack.
