I found a free cot on fb at 12 weeks. Found a pram set for £60 at 14 weeks. And mother in law bought us a car seat this week, at 18 weeks. So, what would be classed as the expensive stuff is done. I love organising and planning stuff, so already have been collecting any freebies, a couple of other cheap bits from Marketplace, like a play mat, bouncer, bath seat, and sling. And mother in law and gifted lots of clothes and everyday bits. I wanted to spread it all out, as I'm needing to get as much as possible second-hand
This time round I have only bought two outfits so far after finding out I’m having a girl but I also have a 10 month old son so I’ll be reusing everything I bought for him, however last time I started buying stuff from 3 months onwards, mostly big things first like travel system (which we paid monthly for) Moses basket, nursery furniture then moved onto smaller bits like dummies, bottles and clothes x
I already bought most things for after birth, like the postpartum belly supper belt, peri bottle, etc. for the baby I got bottles, some cute envelope sleeping things, and a car seat. I’m moving countries at 24 weeks so will start buying everything for the nursery then. The clothes and all that are my last priority since they grow so fast, but I don’t want to do blue/pink stuff, so gender is not something that holds back from buying things 🙈
tbh i have bought a few baby grows when we announced to people and haven’t bought a thing since! ill be waiting till after 20 week scan i imagine to start buying things like travel system etc and the big items and then slowly get the smaller bits xx
I’ve heard from family members who have kids not to buy a lot of stuff until after my baby shower so once I can confirm the gender I’ll get a couple of clothes here and there and really expensive items everything else is either being gifted or given second hand x
I bought the pram a few weeks ago (I’m 21 weeks now!) because the one I liked was on ex display and ridiculously discounted. Glad I’ve got it out the way in terms of finances but I’ve been staring at it for so long now I’m debating my choice 😂 I think it’s whenever you feel comfortable and is right for you!
I haven’t bought anything this time round (19 weeks) I am pregnant with a girl and have a 4 year old daughter - I have kept all of my daughters things even tough she was a Feb baby and this baby will be August. I won’t buy anything until I go through all the stuff first. I have also had very intense anxiety during this pregnancy, due to being really ill with Covid and then having reoccurring UTI’s at the start of the pregnancy (spent a fortune on private scans) xx
I have a boy and I’m having another boy so apart from a little brother sleepsuits and the adaptors and 2nd frame for our icandy to make it a double we literally don’t need anything. Bit frustrating as I loved looking and searching for everything I wanted last time now I feel like I’m just twiddling my thumbs waiting for August 🤣
With my first I was in my 3rd trimester. This time we found out we were having another girl at 18 weeks and I had a day off at 19 weeks to go shopping and got some sleepsuits and bodysuits and then went on vinted to get a few bits. I have most of the stuff from my oldest. But I did get rid of her newborn clothes and snoozepod / rocker. I will get the larger items closer to the time due to storage.
I’m due on the 3rd and haven’t bought anything yet. This will be my first so I’m a bit overwhelmed by it too. I don’t think there’s any rush x
We started early with just a few baby grows / muslins and it grew from there. Trying to spread out so it isn't one big financial hit. Got pram / carry cot travel system at 12 weeks. At 15 weeks we were getting UV sterilisers, bottles, b-pumps etc. were gifted car seats by family. Other bigger stuff has to wait as we are decorating the nursery, have gutted it but not even started yet. Starting to get an overflowing cupboard with all the clothes as we have nowhere to put them yet 🥲😂
Do whatever feels right for you its different for everyone i will probably start around 30w and will continue to make a list of everything i need until then, seems a little late but i had a previous loss at 16w so i have a higher risk of pre term birth and have a stitch placed to keep my current pregnancy ill have it removed at 36w so hopefully plenty of time to get everything ready x
i’ve been buying clothes 2nd hand since about 10 weeks and went pram and car seat shopping today (21 w)
19 weeks and I just brought bottle washer dryer steriliser bottles nuby rapid because they were on offer. Gender scan this week so can then start getting more 🥰

We’ve been ordering things as and when we’ve seen things in the sales etc - my friends with children advised us to pick up bits and pieces as we go along so that it doesn’t ever feel overwhelming! So far it’s been a good tip as things are starting to accumulate nicely ☺️
I’ve bought the pram and car seat last week( 19 weeks) because the colour i wanted in my pram was being discontinued and bought the next to me a Moses basket so all the biggish things are done
I’m 21 weeks almost . Got - Clothes - new & preloved Next to me new Moses basket preloved Blankets knitted by family Luna leaf preloved Bath preloved Cloth nappies preloved Sling preloved Baby book
I’m 19+3 and have only just ordered our pram bundle! Feeling slightly unorganised 🤣
Hey, congrats on your pregnancy 🥰 I’m an August mumma too! I’ve only bought a few clothes for now because I’m unsure of how big baby will be until 20 week scan this week (and even that isn’t 100% accurate!) but I know friends and family will probs buy loads too We got our travel system 2 weeks ago (had such a good deal on it!) and my sister in law has got us a Moses basket. Other than that, I think the rest can wait but it’s personal preference. Would love to start on nursery but he will be by our side for first 6 months so I don’t feel major rush to sort that yet xx
I’m just waiting to confirm gender next Tuesday at 20 weeks then I’ll start getting the big stuff in and buy clothes/smaller things along the way. With my first I started at 16 weeks it’s just whenever you feel ready x
