Reoccurring UTIs???

I’ve always been prone to UTIs but for the last 3 months I’ve been getting UTI like symptoms at the same time every month. I’m usually able to drink lots of water and cranberry juice and can get it to go away on its own. But it’s also accompanied by slightly greenish discharge?? And it’s only for like a week a month. Do you know what this could be? I’m going to call the gyno tomorrow. I’ve never been before and I’m nervous they’re going to tell me I’m dying or something lol

I would make a appointment so they can test your urine

UTIs require antibiotics when it doesn’t go away with cranberry juice

I had this issue too depending on where I was at in my cycle. My doctor said I did not actually have UTIs but “urethritis” which just meant my urethra was irritated (mine was because of hormones) and it gave that same sensation as a UTI. I switched to cotton panties and it helped a lot but I still use AZO urinary pain pills when it bothers me or acts up.

It could tight pelvic floor. Worth a shot get it checked out

the green discharge is alarming. that might be something else and is definitely worth a trip to the doctor or urgent care.

I was convinced I was getting uti’s frequently so I went in and they told me my symptoms were being caused by drinking too much soda or eating more sugar than usual. (I usually never have soda and I was drinking one per day) so it could be something like that?

Could be BV which can also cause UTIs. It’s worth a trip to the doctor!

When you go to get tested ask them to test for mycobacteria which is rarely tested but it’s often the source of unresolved UTIs. This was what just happened to me and it was a gynourologist specialist who figured it out after years of UTI symptoms but “negative” tests. it’s because this type of test doesn’t show up on a standard UA or culture. Also BV (you can have both like me hahah) but you’ll have to treat both you and your partner if that is the case and not have any sex while under treatment

BV does not have green discharge. Green discharge is a sign of infection. You could have trich, chlamydia, gonorrhea, ureaplasma and don’t even know it.

So cranberry juice is good for preventing UTI not treating them, you could grab some cystitis so see if that helps treat it but personally I would go see a gp in case you need something stronger

@Asia I’m not sure how I would’ve gotten an infection?? I’ve only been intimate with my husband for the last 4 years and there’s no chance he’s cheating on me

Are you peeing after sex? Are you letting him cum in you all the time? What are you washing with down there? Are you drinking enough water?

@Asia yes to peeing and no to cumming. We use condoms. Could probably be drinking more water. I am trying to be good about it though and not drink anything other than water. And idk just regular body soap?

You can absolutely get an infection even with a faithful partner. Even with meticulous hygiene. Unfortunately some women are more prone to UTIs than others. There are some infections that are common even amongst monogamous partners and it doesn’t mean that your partner is cheating. Unfortunately any time you have skin to skin contact, you are introducing bacteria. Normally your body can handle it with its natural flora, but when the bad bacteria out numbers the good, that’s when you get symptoms. I would go see a gynourologist specialist. They are fantastic! I had years of these issues and finally met one and she got it all solved in one appointment! They are so well versed even more than a regular gyno.

@Janis thank you this made me feel a lot better 💛
