Baby won't eat from left boob

My baby is almost 6 months old and this last week or 2, he suddenly doesn't like eating on the left side. He will try, but then he'll freak out until I move him to the right side. I Can't figure out if it could be something to do with his acid reflux and laying on his right side, possible ear infection, or if my left boob just is slower to have a letdown or something. I'll call the nurse tomorrow, but I'm curious about your experiences.

I would get him checked for an ear infection but if it was acid reflux I wouldn't think the side would matter. My son did the same thing and it was honestly a boob issue, for some reason there was milk coming out of my areolas and squirting him everywhere, so he didn't like nursing on that side. I just started pumping that side and nursing him on the other.

Have you tried feeding him in the football position on the left side? If it’s the side maybe that’ll help ❤️

I’m also wondering if a nipple shield would help depending on the issue

Side lying position was great for getting my baby to take the other boob

My son always preferred the right boob over the left. Once I started side lying to feed, he preferred the left boob over the right. Boobs and babies are so hard to figure out sometimes.

My daughter is exactly the same. Left boob and all. I suspect it’s because the right ones milk comes out faster and always has more in it.

I would still pump from the left, from Day 1 that baby didn’t take it. Because I don’t want lobsided tits lol. I made sure to swap baby over so he can have both evenly from day 1. But that day that I find that he’s favouring one, I would pump the other just to keep it even lol
