Cefdinir

I didn’t know this, but I wanted to share in case anyone else experiences something similar. My daughter is on Cefdinir for an ear infection (Amoxicillin didn’t work) and one of the side effects is that it turns their poop red! Especially if you’re formula feeding. I called the pediatrician so freaking fast… This would’ve been nice for them to warn us about! So, in case anyone else has a LO that ends up on Cefdinir, since it’s about that time for sicknesses (at least around here) just a PSA that red poop is a side effect! 🥲🤦🏻‍♀️

Unfortunately this medication is jam packed with dyes: D&C red #28, D&C yellow #10, D&C yellow #10 aluminum lake, FD&C blue #1, FD&C blue #1 aluminum lake, FD&C blue #2 aluminum lake, FD&C green #3, FD&C red ...

@Kelsey Wow!!! They told me it was due to a reaction with iron in her formula. However all those dyes could definitely be part of it. They did not share that information with me either, which would have been nice to know 😤

So rare for a pediatrician to be aware of ingredients in the meds they prescribe sadly. Wishing your little one a speedy recovery!

@Kelsey Thank you so much! 🫶🏼

Sorry you had to experience that! Our pediatrician warned us.
