Constipation

I wanted to ask for some advice regarding my 7-month-old baby. Lately, he’s been having difficulty passing stool, and his poop seems quite hard, almost like pellets. He appears to be constipated, and I'm concerned about his discomfort. Do you have any suggestions or remedies that could help ease this? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Also, I was wondering why this has happened, all was well up until now since we started solids. The only change I suspect is that I started giving him Kendamil stage 2 formula once a day, till now he was exclusively breastfed. Do you think formula might be causing the constipation? Thank you!

Prune purée is something I have on hand for my son. Thankfully, not needed to use it yet, but I know it’s highly recommended by those who have!

Prunes always worked for us, you can get prune purée from most supermarkets

You can get some laxatives from pharmacy .

Soak dry prunes in boiling water for 20 minutes and blend and give them that in yogurt or on their own if will take. Why are you giving stage 2, would it not still be stage 1?

@Becky he is 7 months and stage 2 is from 6months onwards

Try and get him to drink water with his solids and agree with above prunes work for us, I normally I have pouch in for emergency use, my LO likes it mixed with plain greek yogurt but she does like anything mixed with yogurt lol

You can still give stage 1 up until 1 year, they only make a stage 2 so they can market it. It isn’t necessary. Try to ensure baby is drinking water with food

My son was the same, Prunes didn’t even help. But i now do blended cauliflower or/and broccoli and that helps him go

Prune pouches work and also he doesn't need follow on milk stage 1 is fine stage 2 is a marketing ploy for the formula companies to advertise because they can't do it with stage one. It also has added iron which can cause constipation x

Ella’s Kitchen prune pack works wonders every single time for my daughter. You can get the packs at most Boots stores or supermarkets x
