Contraception

Hi girls, what contraception did you choose after having the baby? If any at all? I was thinking about the coil but still not sure… 🤔

I chose the implant because I didn’t trust myself to remember to take a pill consistently while caring for a baby! Before pregnancy I had been on the pill for years. Had the implant fitted before I even left hospital. The implant can also come out quite easily, I believe, should I not want it anymore. I’m breastfeeding and finding the implant fine so far 8 weeks postpartum.

I went with the implant! I originally wanted the coil but the nurse told me that because I’m breastfeeding there is a higher chance of there being damage to my womb.

I chose the mini pill due to having issues with oestrogen. I also don’t want anything long term (in my opinion) such as the implant or coil as we want to ttc baby number 2 at the 12 month mark. I had the coil before and it was so painful to put in and took 3 days for recovery that it will be used when we are done having children.

I chose the mini pill due to some issues with my blood pressure, and the implant didn’t agree with me last time and I basically had a constant period x

I haven’t gone on anything due to PCOS and my hormones being all over the shop. The possible side effects of hormonal contraception just don’t sit right with me. Condoms it is for us 😂

I got the mirena coil fitted during my C-section as I wouldn’t remember a pill. I haven’t had any issues with it xx

I had the coil fitted during my C-section, to try to ease my periods. They're very heavy and it contributes to my life long struggles with anemia. I haven't had a period back yet as i am breastfeeding, but i hope it helps them. I also had my tubes removed, as this was my last baby. Just made more sense than my OH going for a separate procedure when i could have it done all at the same time. It also reduces your risk of several cancers, so another positive for getting it done!

I haven't gone on any, I was on the pill for about 10 years, and the last 1-2 years of being on it completely messed my hormones up, took about 3 years for periods to come back and hormones to level. We'll use condoms until we're ready for child #2 x

Mini pill - I was on it for a decade before trying to get pregnant so I know it works for me. It's also safe for breastfeeding.

I’ve had the depo injection. X

i’ve not got for any. i had the implant for 6 years and it made me feel insane towards the end. i’m also a migraine sufferer so my options are very limited. good old condoms for us, for now

Just breastfeeding at the minute so currently LAM and my husband is having a vasectomy but I'll be getting the mirena fitted as soon as my periods return due to endometriosis- it's the only hormonal contraception my body can handle and helps so so much.

I used FAMM (non-hormonal, Fertility Friday podcast has lots of info on it) before pregnancy so will be doing this again, currently LAM ☺️

I had the coil but it came out they fitted it in surgery. I now am on seynna press .. I inject every 3 months x
