too much ipad?

we’re at the age where he knows how to unlock my ipad and go onto youtube 🙈 (kids one only i hide the adult one in a folder he can’t access) but i’m just wondering how much do your little ones watch tv/ipads? he has plenty of time playing outside and i do encourage it a lot, which he seems to prefer which is good!

In our house, iPad is reserved for long drives and flights only so my little girl only watches tv at home usually, and it depends, some days she doesn’t have any screen time at all and just plays happily with her toys after nursery and it doesn’t even seem to occur to her to ask and some other days she asks to watch tv so we put on a a few episodes of whatever kiddie cartoon she wants (not cocomelon and the like though) and at the weekend we might watch a movie occasionally. And of course, occasionally I need some time to get things done around the house so I put on tv for her but she never seems too interested if it wasn’t her choice to put it on and following me round the house when I’m trying to do chores seems like a more interesting option to l her

At dinner because she won't sit still otherwise and when I need her busy for 5 min like putting the baby to bed. She all about cats at the moment and we just put an episode of Gabby on when she's on it. I don't like the kids on YouTube even my older kids.

Same as Suzie in which iPad is only for travelling. We have tv time for about 30 mins before nursery on weekdays and unlimited (within reason) at weekends. I say unlimited, but we are rarely home at weekends or only for short bursts of time as we are mostly out and about doing activities/seeing friends and family. We stopped it on weekday evenings about a year ago as it was causing tantrums when we asked her to switch it off and we’ve just kept it this way.

We’ve never done iPads, but tv is on for most of the day except meal times x
