How old was your kid when you were able to start folding laundry around them without them grabbing stuff and throwing it everywhere?

1 & 2 are not options bc if you have a calm 2yo that listens i absolutely don’t wanna hear about it!

i’ve given up trying to fold laundry with my 2yo around, unless i give her a few pieces of whatever it is i’m doing so she can “fold” it herself lol

@Izzie I only fold at night usually. But as a single mom every night I make dinner, do bath time, bedtime, clean after dinner, clean the toys/reset for the day and then I have to shower at night… it’s just so much. I end up neglecting the clean laundry and digging through the baskets everyday. For both of our laundry😅

We do a bit of a toy rotation so I’ll give my 2yo a toy he hasn’t had in a while and power fold while he is distracted for the 5 minutes lol

They’re three and a half and the answer is “not yet” 🙃

@Jayden mine doesn’t care about ANYTHING more than what I’m doing 🥲 I almost never give him juice and tried giving him some while I folded real fast, he left the juice cup to come destroy my piles 😭 insane cuz nothing has ever stopped him from chugging a juice before 😭

@Genevieve oh perfect 🫠🫠

🫠 I just got a big bin and throw the clothes in there neatly as possible there just isn’t enough time

Now that you mention it, this is the one thing my daughter DOES NOT ask to help me with 🤔🤔

@Melanie funny how that works 🤣😭

@🩷 Patience 🩷 girl I finally folded today during his nap and found the pants that I had worn for Valentine’s Day at the bottom 🤣 couldn’t believe I’ve even throwing clean laundry in the basket THAT long lmaoooo. But digging to find socks & underwear might just irritate me more than folding😭

That reminds me of how funny my son thought it was to unfold everything I just folded, in the hope I would run after him 😅 he is 4 now, not sure when he stopped, he did just a couple of times as i wasn't engaging with his game, and then I got a laundry room, where I could do my thing while he is with his dad our at nursery Can you try to give you child a small basket with some of her clothes "to fold" too ?

@Marie my son is a very destructive 1 year old lol. I let him take things and run with them but we’re VERRRRREEEEY far from him folding anything. He won’t sit still for anything. He even stands while he eats lol. Always moving

😅 Good luck then, he might fine interest in some toys or games overtime and will focus on that. I try to include my son on what I'm doing but I think he really start to listen and behave after 2yo. 1 yo are wild lol, I'm looking forward to see how my little will be at that age though 😊

My son will be two in July and he will grab stuff and unfold constantly, but I found that keeping a pile of socks (or something similar) near me and asking him to put them in the basket across the room keeps him busy for almost the entire time I’m folding. I think they just want to feel included in what we’re doing so giving them a task similar to what you’re doing keeps their minds busy.

@Rachel ok!! Putting socks in is something he would love! He just recently started throwing trash (and unfortunately non trash 🤣) away for me cuz he lovessssss the put it in game, so I’ll give this a try. I worry he’ll run out of socks and start putting things I’ve folded innnnnn though lmao

My 5 year old attempts to help but her folding skills are interesting at best lol. We usually get her to match up the socks instead she loves that game.

Mines almost 2. I ask my husband to watch him while I hide out in our room and fold as much as I can, or I take it to the laundromat for them to clean and fold.

My almost 3 year old likes to “help” me fold laundry. And when I say I help, I mean drag it out & lay it across furniture or in the floor. 🤣

I have a laundry cart for clean clothes and I fold everything in the dinner table. My son is 1.5y and he can’t reach so he doesn’t care

@Ana Moore yeah I used to do that until he learned to climb up the chairs. If you have a wild one like I do, count your days 😭

@Victoria ha, step 1. acquire husband 📝

Oof… Pop on kiddos favorite movie and rush it until they notice you’re gone..? Mine is obsessed with Moana, I get about 15 minutes before he realizes
