Do you have hobbies as a parent of young children?

My children are 2 years and 7 months old, I struggle to find hobbies, just curious to see if other parents of young children have hobbies, if so what are they?

My husband games on his PC and I love reading, cooking & going to the gym 😊

@Emilie please tell us how you achieve all of that with young children?!

I play netball 2-3 times a week, I also move reading! My partner runs 5-6 times a week 🥰

I have a 1 year old 2 year old and 7 year old and I play football, I also game when the kids are napping/ in bed or I do Lego and diamond art If I’m playing football they go to my mums for a few hours or they are at home with their dad if he isn’t at work o do also work as well

@Aurora I have a 4 year old daughter! She loves cooking with me so we bake & cook most days together. I only read and my husband only games when she is in bed asleep and I go to the gym in the morning after I drop her at school 😊

I’ve started to get into drawing again, my children are 3.5 and 1.5, mostly drawing paper dolls for my eldest but it’s a step forward lol 😂

The gym! It's my only hobby and I go 3-4 times a week. Other than that I enjoy staring at a blank wall in the dark once my toddler is asleep and screaming into pillows x

I love cooking and baking. My daughter likes to get involved too

I have hobbies. I love to draw, read and make things but I don’t really have the time anymore 😂 I have a 2 year old and am 7 months pregnant so any drawing and reading that I do anymore is with my daughter and by the time she’s in bed so am I 😴

If cooking and going to work count as hobbies than yes, otherwise definitely not. My husband plays sports in the evening a couple nights a week and hunts

I allow myself gardening as a hobby as it is something that has to be kept on top of anyway and still lets me be creative, get some exercise in and good for my wellbeing. The children play in the garden and I potter about. I got rid of all my many crafting things as it was space that we didn’t have with two small children.

Cooking everything from scratch is my passion. This after my kid developed multiple food allergies, yay. Cooking food, did become my main hobby out of need but I am an avid learner and have always been doing courses or professional development. I also love photography and I continue to make great shots whenever I have a chance. I still need to edit and print them, though. According to my husband I should also sell them and make a book. We will come to it. The rest of my hobbies are abandoned atm, but in a couple of years I may be able to resume.

Mine are 3, 2, and turns 1 in less than a week❤️ I workout which usually takes most of my time I have available after chores and cleaning. But I start pottery projects with my set my husband got me and like to draw. Also trying to read but hard to fit stuff in lol I’m sahm, no childcare and my man works a lot so just nighttime and nap time to do anything

I’m a single mum so it’s hard to do some hobbies I would like to try (pickle ball please don’t roast me for it lol) but I enjoy reading, creative makeup, learning tarot and astrology and I do some creative courses online when I get the chance 💖 I’m hoping once she goes to nursery and school I can start to do other hobbies on my days off like sports, painting groups and book clubs (I’m a bit of a geek lol) x

Yes. Baking cooking gardening. Cutting/dying my hair, doing my nails, face masks, skincare, makeup. Out- checking out new bars, I’m a huge foodie and cocktail lover. And I do Pilates and Zumba for fitness, replaced them with salsa and bachata when he was 18m. There’s heaps of other stuff I love doing, but they are my main hobbies. If I’m not doing them, I’m watching tutorials to learn more. Going to expos, comedy shows, festivals. I check out whats on on my city to attend every weekend. Dance has consumed me the last couple of years- everything I do at home kind of compliments it. I just got home from a salsa lesson, I go Tuesdays and Fridays.

A friend pointed out to me the other day that I do absolutely nothing for myself. I’ve started reading a chapter of my book every night as a start to feeling less guilty about doing something for me. I love reading but never prioritise it so this feels very special and doesn’t take away from kids / husbands time.

My daughter is 5 now, and at school so I finally have time for hobbies. I read and I have an allotment. Before then no, there was no time.

Exercise and gardening. I have an allotment to grow veg and fruit

I knit or crochet a little. And I game one night a week. It’s hard with littles, but I try. I bake too, but not really for fun (more to help my family eat veggies) so I don’t really consider that a hobby for me.
