When did you discuss delivery

I am 21 weeks pregnant with DCDA twins this week, and I was just wondering at what point did you guys speak to your consultant about delivery options?

Literally last week at 33 weeks 🫣xx

@Alex Bennellick stop it 😭 I’ll message you 😂 xx

My consultant booked me in for c section at 16 weeks x

Not til over 34 weeks

I’m in Canada but at my last appt being 24 weeks was to early so next week ! At 26 weeks for a c section

@amber oh my gosh! Wow, that’s so soon 😮 good luck 🤗

@Hannah this just seems crazy to me considering they tell us to expect the babies before 37 weeks 😂 thank you for commenting tho x

@Nell oh wow! That’s so efficient x

@Jade yes I said I was 90% sure I wanted one and he said well let's book it now and you can always change your mind!

@Jade mine were expected at 37w (dcda) and born 37w3d. I wanted a natural birth so nothing to book. I don't know what happens for an elective c section though

@Hannah I don’t want an elective section, I would much prefer to deliver vaginally but I’d still like to know my options and what to expect as with my singleton delivery I had a horrid time 😭

@Jade you can always bring it up at your next appointment if you're feeling worried. A lot depends on position of babies which doesn't settle til a bit later so they won't be able to give you any definite answers til nearer the time in my experience

@Hannah yeah I’m deffo going to bring it up, I know it’s dependent on positioning but regardless of that I’d like to have an idea of what my options are bc with my first I felt so thrown in the deep end 😥

This stressed me out! We properly discussed it at 34 weeks but I bought it up before this at twin clinic as wanted to chat through options

@Laura I think I’ll have to do the same! I’m seeing my consultant this week, so will breach the topic then. I don’t expect a set in stone ‘plan’ because I know things can change at any stage, but I’d still like to know What my options are/what the advice is etc so I can *somewhat* prepare 😂

Definitely do this! I used to make a list of all my questions/concerns, it’s what they are there for! Xx

32 weeks doctor said he will book in my induction.

At the beginning of my pregnancy I told them I want an elective c section like with my son. My OB said it would be between 37 and 38 weeks, that the maternal fetal medicine specialists would decide when for sure at my 28 week growth scan and then my OB will schedule it with the hospital. So I have about two weeks left until I can get it scheduled.

My doctor in GA discussed my options as soon as we found out I was having twins, then when I moved to NC about 32 weeks, the new doctor again went over my options and agreed if they were both healthy I could do vaginal. I had my induction scheduled at 37 weeks when they checked me (per me requesting it) and scheduled me for induction @ 38 weeks. I was already 5cm when I arrived for my induction 🤯had no clue. Everything ended up working out and they were both delivered vaginally 9 minutes apart (this was my second pregnancy so I think that may have played a part)

I had mcda twins and we discussed it earlier. I brought it up early myself with my obgyn and just continued the conversation as I had questions. I think we had a serious discussion around 28-30wks. I went into labor spontaneously in week 33

I had a consultants appointment at 14 weeks and they asked me if I’d started thinking about it and offered me leaflets on sections or vaginal births with twins. I’m 100% sure on a c section so I took the leaflet and they said they’d book it in next appointment with them which is 22 weeks.

@Laura I do that every time, the consultant hates to see me coming with my 101 questions 😂

@Jo did you want a section? Did they go through all options?

@Hannah how brilliant! I would like to deliver vaginally so it’s nice to hear a positive story 🤗 this is my second pregnancy too, hoping my body knows what to do 😂

@Jade trust your body & your strength! My twin B was transverse until A came out. I was terrified but took the chance. I also trusted the hospital to know when to intervene if I would truly need an emergency c section. I had heard from doctors all the way in GA before I moved back to NC that this hospital was a great place to deliver twins so I would also see if there’s a twin mom group in your area on fb and see if you can hear some experiences at your hospital from them as well 🥰

@Jade I'm 20 weeks but no I don't want a c section.

@Jo nor do I, I was just wondering if they went through all options with you or not

Hi @Jade yes they go through all delivery options , actually my consultant was very pro me trying vaginally. I opted for planned section but turned out they were transverse breech anyway so that was my only option in end! Xx

@Jade they asked me what I wanted and I told them. The doctor did explain how it works. I didn't go into detail about a c section as I want to avoid.

@Jo okay thank you ☺️

@Jade I had plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
