15 months - don’t feel anywhere near “wrapping up” or moving to cotton pants

Has been cruising for 3 months but still not walking. Started EC at 11 months. He quickly caught on that poo goes in the potty and was basically “poop trained” within a couple of weeks. This has been my priority. We don’t try to catch every pee but go for all the easy catches. Had a little regression recently with travel and more confidence cruising / being able to get off potty independently and not wanting to sit still. We seem to be mostly through that now. But even though I have used the same words and signal for 4 months now, he shows no sign of signalling yet. So I don’t feel confident enough to remove the disposable nappy. Any tips to get him signalling?! I’d really like to wrap up soon 🤞 He knows that the potty is a pee opportunity and will go if the timing is sort of right. But while in disposables I don’t expect him to make any effort not to pee in the nappy 🤷🏻‍♀️.

We’ve been doing EC with our girl since 9 months for poop only and same thing we catch occasionally pee. She started tapping her chest or crawling into the bathroom and we put her on and she is now peeing. We read books about using the potty too. I know you aren’t supposed to give them external rewards for using the potty but when she sits we give her a sticker. Now she’s crawling into the bathroom there a lot to sit and also get a sticker. I don’t know when we will formally train her or switch out the diaper but she has had days where we only use 1 diaper/she is dry all day and we just hang in her play area and she crawls into the bathroom to do her thing then crawls out. Shes 14.5 months

@Roz That’s great! I’m trying to teach a tummy tap as a signal so hopefully he’ll get there soon 😂

Yes she sometimes does it but I don’t care too much about the signal. Sometimes I let her go diaper free and she’s crawled into the bathroom and peed on the floor but at least she knows it goes somewhere in the bathroom lol

Hello. I started easy catches at 12 mo, at 15 mo I moved to full EC using commando for 3 weeks then training pants (pullup for out of home). I washed a looot of trousers including a lot of poop trousers but within that month I finally got him to poop on potty regularly and into a rhythm. This carried on with slowly increasing success out of the house from 16mo. I did the tiny potty training at 17.5mo and its been amazing. He had already initiated while bottomless before we did the potty training experience but since we did that I had sooo much less resistance so its given me such a break. He is on day 14 (commando) and had a second accident free day today. Will do commando for another 6 weeks minimum before adding underwear

@Alex oooh thanks that’s super helpful! What’s “tiny potty training”? Oh the potty resistance is really challenging 😂. Little boy definitely knows poo goes in the potty but sometimes just really doesn’t want to sit 🤦🏻‍♀️ thought we had got through that phase but we’re having another bout this week… what kind of training pants do you use? Do you think they help?
