Lip Tie Removal?

Baby had her first dentist appointment today and we found out she has a lip tie. It’s creating a gap in her teeth and the dentist let us know that it will also create a gap in her permanent teeth if we don’t get it removed. Other than that, no issues! Husband and I want to schedule her for a laser removal. Any tips going in? I’m worried about the pain since they don’t apply anesthesia. She doesn’t have latch troubles, it’s purely to prevent a gap (the gap is already pretty prominent). I thought of not doing it because she’s beautiful as she is! I just don’t want her to resent me when she’s an adult because a gap could have been prevented.

Hi! My baby just got a lip and tongue tie clipped and I wish I would have done it sooner. However, his were severe and have created feeding problems. I've have friends who didn't because it wasn't severe and the dentist said that usually kiddos (unfortunately) eventually take a tumble and it'll actually correct its self. Even though mine needed it for eating I still wanted it because I didn't want it to cause any speech issues or lead to gum recession! We did ours same day and they didn't offer lazer they just snipped and as terrible as it sounds I think I was more upset by it than my 10 month old! He maybe let out two cries and then I let him breast feed and he never acted like he noticed. He was chewing on a tooth brush 15 min later! I was actually shocked because they kept telling me he won't care after and I didn't believe them but he is a week out and never has needed Tylenol or been upset by it!

I did both of my kids- one at 1 month and one at 2.5 months. It is only painful for one day. They may not want to breastfeed or eat but they will eventually get hungry and will eat. I just did Tylenol and let them sleep. That night is usually some tears then the next day they seemed better

@Bailey my baby’s name is Bailey too! So awesome! 😄 thank you for this! I didn’t even think about the possible speech impediments it can cause down the line. Hearing your experience makes me feel so much better about the process. We don’t even want to get her ears pierced because of the unnecessary pain 😭

@Sam I would’ve much rather had it done sooner, but the lactation consultant at the hospital told us she had no ties. It was such a surprise to me that she has one, but it makes sense with her teeth gap. I’m glad to know that the pain doesn’t last too long!

@Alyssa 🥰 she will be okay as soon as she is back in your arms! They also offered him a popsicle after but he wouldn't take one

@Bailey thank you for your kind words, definitely helped my anxiety 🥹

@Alyssa THIS happened to us I asked 5 DIFFERENT professionals until I just went to the dentist!

My baby has it too and I started to notice it more because there is a little gap between is upper teeth, just scheduled and appointment with the dentist for next week. I didn’t even realize it the lip tie causing it til I saw your post ☺️
