Pacifier vs. Colic

Hi moms! My baby is 2 months old and been having discomfort from gassing and constipation issues. I hear different things about how giving pacifiers either triggers or relieves colic issues. What are your experiences and opinions?

I think it’s dependent on each baby. Pacifiers can cause excess gas making colic worse. My baby GOES TO TOWN thinking its a bottle and ingests a bunch of extra air (and overall doesn’t care for the pacifier). If your LO can use it calmly i think its okay.

It helped my girl loads. It does really depend on the baby though

It helps to calm my boy when he is overtired due to crying. But he doesn’t always take it.

My son was extremely colicky initially, pacifier kept him at ease, and now he's 3mo, he's fine and don't take the pacifier as much as he used to before.

All super helpful! Thank u for sharing! Ima give it a shot!

For me and my daughter I’ve noticed if I give her the pacifier while doing the leg movements and things to help get the gas out it distracts her and even if she’s not fussing from had I’ve noticed if she’s chilling with the pacifier all of a sudden she’s tooting up a storm and I think it relaxes her enough for her body to release
