Anyone else struggling with unemployment state benefits etc? I don’t qualify for Edd because I can’t look for a job due to no childcare. State benefits said that “borrowing” money from family to pay bills is considered an income even if you have to pay it back. How is anyone suppose to survive around here when ppl that actually need help don’t get it.

have you applied for CalWorks, even if only temporary?

Yes, I was denied because when I was on disability I was “making” 2k a month and that’s income

But now I’m making nothing and still struggling to get anything

if you’re no longer on disability, i would maybe try again. i was making just under $2k/mo driving for lyft when i initially applied and now that i’m no longer driving for them, i was approved

I’m still on maternity leave. I shad enough money to do the full year in my sdi. If you still have money left, you can go to a therapist and they can say you have postpartum.

@Antonia I did apply again. I showed them proof of no longer on disability and that I borrowed money and now they want a letter from the person I borrowed from and how I will be paying my bills if I don’t get assistance

It’s so hard so keep up with all the little things to get benefits and then the deadlines. The borrowing part is honestly ridiculous how they think we gonna make it by when no one hires us 🥺🫩
