Hand-washing baby clothes?

Does anyone else hand-wash their baby's clothes if they've had a nappy leak, before putting them in the machine? I told my friend (a mum of three) that I was doing this back when my baby was 4 wks old and she just laughed and said, "Yeah... That won't last long 😂" She made me feel a bit stupid tbh... My baby's 14wks and I still do it every time it happens just to make sure her clothes don't stain. Am just being overly cautious or does anyone else do this?

My mum and mother in law suggested a bucket with Milton water in it, any poonarmi clothes get put directly in there, then they can go on a 60 degree wash when I have enough bits. I wash everything else at 30. Never had any stains even when I haven't washed them straight away. That works for me but you do whatever feels right for you ❤️ there's no right or wrong way xx

I have a bucket that I fill with vanish power and detergent to presoak poo stains. Then add them to the next wash.

I still do it now even when my two year old has the odd leak. As you say I want to look after her clothes.

Only thing I hand wash is the handmade knitted stuff we've been gifted. As lovely as the stuff is I don't often put him in them or use the blankets because washing them is a pain in the a** and they take days to dry. We tried doing the hand wash in the machine and shrunk something so I don't like to use it

Nah I do a quick wash (like 45 minutes) in the washing machine as a pre wash and then put some more clothes in to do a full wash. The only time it hasn’t worked perfectly is when I accidentally left a pair of leggings in her changing bag overnight. Hand washing would probably be more eco friendly but this works for us!

I presoak in napisan and then pop it in the next load, it works for us, you do you!! Also if they do stain clothing with poo (or tomato when weaning!) let it dry in the sun, it bleaches it out most of the time! It's been a life saver for my tomato pasta obsessed 4 year old who has CMPA so had a lot of poo explosions!! Xx

Depends what it is. I generally spray any stains (for my 2yo & 15w old) with the pink stuff stain remover and then into the washing machine it goes. If it’s something new or that I particularly love then I use carbolic soap on the stain prior to washing. That requires water and a bit of a scrub but I wouldn’t say I hand wash it as such. Do whatever works best for you and whatever you have time to do. Just because your pal has 3 kids doesn’t make her right xx
