The sonographer said she has to send me to the maternity day assessment to see the doctor to talk through options (??). They were packed there so I have to see the doctor today and they gave me some forms about induction to take away yesterday and also about shoulder dystocia..
I had this at my 32 week growth scan. Was referred for a second GD test but I didn't have it. Stomach was back in like with everything else at my 36 week growth scan! X
At our 36+4 weeks scan last week baby’s legs and head was measuring 37+2 but the stomach was measuring 43 weeks 😅 they didn’t sound too concerned just said it could be GD but I passed my GD test at 28 weeks and she got out a little checklist to see if I’d need a repeat test that I passed so don’t need to repeat the test so I don’t think it is that.. baby’s on 97th centile overall but no mention on induction, however I did book in for a C-section so not sure if they would have said otherwise.. it did however make my mind up about a planned section as my last got his shoulder stuck and that fear has never left me
Oh your poor little one and how stressful for you. How much did he weigh? How did they end up getting his shoulder out?
I can totally understand why you opted for a c section this time!
Mine was also large around the 32 week mark but then by 36 weeks it had aligned back into a more usual circumference! Also, they didn’t seem at all worried when it was on the larger end x
I’m 38 weeks today and had scan last Monday which measured baby at 8lbs 6 😳 same as you, it’s the tummy that seems big but my doc said not to worry… but he’s bringing me back for another scan at 39+3 where he suggests he may do sweep and has suggested that I may get induced on due date if baby hasn’t came by then. He’s not keen on going past due date. I’m Taking it day at a time and waiting for next scan to see what they say then… but going to try all the wives tales this week in hope baby comes himself before that 😅
Yes that’s the same for me. The doctors just been told I shouldn’t go past my due date. They’re going to do a sweep at 39 weeks and see and then they’ve booked induction a few days later. Ahhh!!
Did they explain to you why they want to bring the baby early? They just keep talking about increased risk of shoulder dystocia…
Keeping fingers crossed for us - I’ll be drinking raspberry leaf tea and doing all the wives tales too 😂🤞
My babies tummy is over 99th, and over all baby is over 99th. First baby was the same. They might offer an induction at 39 weeks but otherwise baby will be fine 🥰 just got a little fat tum x
Oh this is so reassuring! Was your first induced early? Xx
Mine is measuring on the 97th centile for head and abdomen. There’s no evidence that induction is beneficial when you have a big baby. If they suggest it ask them to explain risks, benefits and alternatives. But all of my babies have been big and all have been fine to deliver “normally”.
I had large abdominal circumference at my 32 week scan! They didn’t seem concerned or say anything about it. I have another scan today so will see what the difference is. Did they not say anything at the scan appt? If mine is the same again today I’m going to ask them to give me detail about it xx
