Car Seat Maxi Cosi or Joie?

Maxi Cosi Emerald 360 or Joie I-Size R129 360 XL ? Both have same sizing, recline functions, swivel functions. Just anyone have either of these and what you do/don’t like or what you recommend?

For the same price you can get an axkid mini kid 2 - better value for money as it’ll last until 25kg and 125cm… we have a joie 360 and an axkid and I wish I’d never bought the joie

@Rachael why don’t you like the joie? The XL goes up to 12 years x

Although some of the joies have good/high safety rating such as Swedish standards testing. I’ve found the overall quality of the maxi cosi better. You should really look at an extended rear facing car seat like the axkids rather than a seat that will “last till 12” as these normal forward face early on which is not the safety’s things to do.

@Candice it’s big and bulky, the harness is outgrown at 18kg so after that it’s using the car seat belt forward facing which, if you have a big child could be as young as 2 years old. Car seats go by height and weight, not age.. The axkid is small, compact, or if you have a big enough car can be installed with loads of leg room, the straps never twist (unlike with the joie), my kids fight over who gets to sit in it!

Another vote for the Axkid Minikid 2 just solely as it’s safer, just bought it for my son now at almost 7m he’ll fit into it x

@Becky yes I definitely want to rear face for as long as possible! X

@Rachael oh no! I definitely want to ERF! On the way to look at the axkid now! Xx

Neither! There’s much better on the market for your money, as others have said Axkidd and Britax are good ones that’ll last till around 6/7 years old xx

Update, unfortunately the axkid isn’t 360 and isn’t easier to transfer between cars which I will definitely need. Back to the Joie or any other suggestions ?

@Candice I can transfer the axkid between cars in about 5 minutes- I have a spare set of tethers in the other car. It’s not 360 but my kids can climb in themselves so not needed

@Candice is your child higher or lower centiles? If lower then I’d look at the Graco slimfit, it rear faces to 22kg and it’s so easy to move between cars (we have it as a spare) Honestly avoid 360 seats, they’re no easier to get little one in and out of and they won’t last as long for rear facing. Promise you that it’s no issue getting them in and out a non spin seat. Also the Graco is super cheap and is exactly the same seat as Joie (same parent company just different fabrics hence the slight price difference) x

@Amy the Joie rearfaces for up to 4-5 years the woman at in car safety centre said xx
