Losing faith in my maternity care

Is anyone else feeling a bit frustrated with the maternity care to date? I’ve not seen my assigned midwife once so far due to sickness or annual leave, not sure if that is effecting the level of care I’m receiving or if it’s normal. My NHS trust (who I actually also work for!) uses the BadgerApp and it seems to have completely replaced any person to person care. My 28 week bloods came back that I needed to iron but this hasn’t been communicated to me by the midwife, was by chance I found it in the app. Digital solutions are great but surely they should supplement the care given by your clinician not completely replace it! When referring me to the consultant which I had been told was only age related (41!) they said I had a BMI above 35, was a smoker and my previous child was born small. None of those are true! The consultant could see that from my records and was confused as to why I was there. I’m not filled with a huge amount of confidence at the moment! Sorry for the rant! Well done if you got this far 🫣🤪.

I’ve seen my named midwife once at 16 weeks and never again, I’m now 31 weeks.. my badger app shows nothing, I don’t even know the results of my 28 week bloods. My appointments don’t show on the badger app either. No idea why hospitals use it because I’ve seen so many complaints everywhere about it. I also complained to PALS because of the lack of care I’ve been given 🙄

@Kirsty it’s known to be a bit dodgy, especially over the last couple of days which surely should mean they up with personal contact! I’ll also be going to PALs

My first pregnancy I didn’t see my named midwife once because she was signed off on long term sick after being kicked in the head by a horse (only found that last part out in my second pregnancy when I finally met her by chance at an appointment). I was seen at my booking appointment and then had my 12 week scan and wasn’t seen again until after 30 weeks when I kept calling. This pregnancy has been better in terms of seeing the same midwife but similarly my recent blood results are all over the place and haven’t heard from anyone. I’ve been diagnosed with gestational diabetes twice in this pregnancy then told both times afterwards that actually they had the results wrong which was only picked up because I saw them on my app and mentioned they seemed unusual. They’re just chronically overworked, stretched and care is sadly suffering. The NHS is just not what it once was unfortunately x

This is a shame to see, I had a great experience. My midwife saw me about 6-7 times during my pregnancy , always followed up with any results from bloods / urine etc. always available on text if I had any questions.

I don’t even have an assigned midwife 😅😂 just the general team
